Berry possesses a soulful tenor steeped in classic R&B, and imbues all of his lyrics with a passion that gives an extra breath of life to all his material.Berry's music is intense, as witnessed by his rendition of Hank Snow's 1963 hit, "Ninety Miles An Hour." But it is his emotional pop ballads that drive his fans crazy, and that style is fully represented on STANDING ON THE EDGE by songs like the defeatist "If I Had Any Pride Left," or Vince Gill's poetic "Prove Me Wrong." Another highlight is the folky gospel ballad, "There's No Cross That Love Won't Bear."Often compared to Gill, whose music also remains close to its country/folk/bluegrass roots, John Berry adds a splash of blue-eyed soul to his country music.
Editorial Reviews...[John Berry] lends his expansive tenor to a soulful collection of desperate, intimate songs... - Rating: BEntertainment Weekly (19950210)eBay Product ID: EPID3175830
