    Movie synopsis

Going boldly where no man had gone before, Gene Roddenberry's cult phenomenon STAR TREK debuted in 1966 and reflected that decade's optimistic preoccupation with space travel. Set in the 23rd century, the series chronicled the intergalactic adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise on its five-year mission to explore the outer reaches of space. Encountering a now-iconic assembly of innovative alien life forms such as the Klingons, Romulans, Tribbles, and Khan Noonian Singh, the ship's jumpsuited crew was a then unheard-of font of multiculturism: Asian Sulu (George Takei), African-American Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), and Scotsman Montgomery Scott (James Doohan). But it was the contrasting personalities of cooly logical Vulcan Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy), emotionally intuitive medical officer Leonard "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley), and womanizing ship captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner in definitive overacting mode) that lent the series much of its charm--and spawned a rabid cult following that continues to fuel costume sales and convention bookings to this very day. This collection includes the groundbreaking series' first season. Beam me up, Scotty!

Where no man has gone before!

    Created: 09/09/06
James T Kirk, Mr. Spock, Bones and “if I give her anymore Cap’n she’ll blow” Scotty. All the beloved characters are present in the original series that stirred a generations imaginative atoms. The over the top acting by William Shatner is illogically overlooked by the “state of the art” special effects. I can hardly tell that the space aged silver drinking receptacles are merely painted Styrofoam cups.
Here’s a question. Who in their right mind would send down to a hostile environment the Captain, first officer, second officer, third officer, chief of the medical staff, and some poor sap in a “Red” uniform. We all know who is going to be attacked by a salt sucking creature, vaporized into a fine white dust, burned to a crisp, or simply falling into a bottomless dark pit.
Captain Kirk what were you thinking? Oh yeah he was thinking about the blue girl.
From a military stand point, which I assume this was as the USS Enterprise was fully “locked and loaded,” why in the name of “Tranya” would you send down your entire key staff. Come on the guy at the helm just got out of Star Fleet Academy and Wesley Crusher does not even exist yet. If Mr. Spock is so intelligent and logical why didn’t he figure out that sending the top four or five officers was not the “logical” choice. We all know exactly when Mr. Red Uniform is going to buy the farm as the series recycles the musical sound track.
Despite the plot holes, predictable story lines, exuberant acting, and endless supply of uniforms for Captain Kirk (did I mention that his shirt gets torn, ripped or mutilated every other episode?) despite all these, Star Trek was monumental in the pivotal confusing times of the 60’s. Star Trek opened a whole new arena of racial equality, vision, foresight and hey if you got in the way of the ever loving NCC 1701 USS Enterprise prepare to taste Photon Torpedoes, Phasers and Corbomite.
Now on DVD ready for a new generation to appreciate, love and respect the crew that went “where no man has gone before.”

    The Original Star Trek

    Created: 07/09/08
This is by far the best of the Star Trek series'. It is the original series, where we all learned to love the crew of the starship Enterprise. I loved watching these as a child, and have watch the sydicated shows ever since. I also love the original cast, and the movies they have starred in. The best of the best.
