Generations Captains Meet

Created: 13/05/07
Originally this was going to be a story/episode used on the Next Generation TV show. Next Generation was winding down after being a hit show for seven years. However, the idea to make it a motion picture and introduce the Star Trek Next Generation Cast to a movie audience as the Star Trek torch is passed on from one icon to the next became the main idea.
Yes indeed! For this movie has the Legendary Captain James Kirk meet the outstanding Captain Jean Luke Picard.
IN the 23rd Century, Captain Kirk, Commander Chekov and Engineer Scotty "see" off a brand new USS Enterprise that has replaced theirs. (and wind down their Star Fleet Careers) An energy storm has stranded a series of transport ships with people aboard. The strange energy storm is called the Nexus from people screaming out over the communications being broadcast on the Enterprise-B's audio system.
Even with the warp power drive of the Enterprise-B is not powerful enough to escape the great energy storm for it becomes engulfed then stranded in the strange Nexus. Unable to escape, Captain Kirk tries an idea to reverse the engines warp drive and cause a deflector beam to force out the Enterprise-B from the raging storm. As the people from the stranded transport ships are transported aboard, one alien named Soran is fighting his way wanting to return to the Nexus and is rendered unconscious by Chekov helping perform rescue operations.
After all the people are free from the Nexus, Kirk performs his idea of aiming the deflector beam into the storm, the results: a freed Enterprise-B, but Kirk is lost as a section of the star ship is destroyed by the Nexus and he is presumed killed.

78 years later on Enterprise 1701-D, Captain Jean Luke Picard and First Officer Commander William Riker are introduced. When the Next Gen cast is introduced into the movie, they find out it is this mad being Soran who was rescued 78 years earlier, is planning a major experiment to re-enter the Nexus but the results of his mad experiment: is that it will destroy an entire star system in doing so.....with the climax leading up to Captain Kirk meeting Captain Picard in a total surprize adventure ending.

If anyone has never seen this movie, get it and get on board the Starship Enterprise and travel with one of the best loved crews in the Star Trek Experience. This DVD is one of my favorites (but they are all my favorites) The cast is just as they were in the series and you even see Tovak as part of the bridge crew from Voyager, but without his Vulcan ears. The Captains of the mighty Enterprise are all the best and top notch and were wisely choosen for their parts in the wonderful series. Take a look, take a ride, and chart unknown regions of space right from you TV. 100++/

this movie did not have the best storie line for us star trek fans. However I think it was a good way of blending the cast between old and new.

I was pleased to find a seller selling an 'out of print' dvd of this product. It was the only one in the Star Trek series I was missing. When you look for a specific product and use the search engine you can find what you are looking for, more than not.

I really like this one

Although the Enterprise-D is destroyed, this is one of the better movies. Bringing back Kirk for one last fling took away a bit of Picard's limelight, but overall, this is a good story. Exploring emotions with Data is interesting, also.
