I havent bought a game card and dont have a credit card to subscribe with. But i will be fighting the as sholes in customer support....

The game i purchases has this on the back cover "THE FIRST 30 DAYS OF SUBSCRIPTION FEES ARE INCLUDED IN PURCHASE OF THE PRODUCT."

On the instructions for installing and playing the game it reads.
1.GO TO swtor redeem/game
2.CLICK "REDEEM YOUR PRODUCT REGISTRATION CODE" (YOU WILL BE PROMPTED TO LOG IN OR CREATE A STAR WAR: THE OLD REPUBLIC ACCOUNT IF NEEDED)
3. ENTER AND CONFIRM YOUR PRODUCT REGISTRATION CODE WHEN PROMPTED.
4. FALLOW ON-SCREEN INSTRUCTIONS TO COMPLETE YOUR REGISTRATION.
5 INSTALL THE GAME AND BEGIN PLAYING

At the bottom of the same page it again states,
"THE FIRST 30 DAYS OF SUBSCRIPTION FEES ARE INCLUDED IN THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT."
I have fallowed all instructions provided with the game and attempted to play the game.
At this point i got an error saying
There is currently no active subscription on this account. Activate your account here the here

Here they provide a list of tasks that must be completed to play. I fallowed all the steps then came subscription step and get this message

"You have 29 days of play time remaining. You must sign up for a recurring subscription plan or redeem a Game Time Code before you can play. If you sign up for a recurring subscription, you will be billed automatically at the end of your current remaining play time."

They are refusing to allow me to use the time i have paid for until I pay more, while the time i paid for is slowly disappearing.

On the front:
VALID CREDIT CARD OR PAID GAME CARD (IF AVAILABLE). INTERNET CONNECTION AND PAID SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED TO PLAY THE GAME. 30-DAY SUBSCRIPTION INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE.

So by purchasing the game I have meet the requirements of the paid subscription for 30 days. The credit card or game card are separated from paid subscription requirement and are optional. Nowhere on the game or in the game does it say that additional purchase is needed to get the 30 day subscription purchased with the game. The requirement of a subscription is separate from the payment methods. As a subscription is purchased with the game the requirement it met.

Made by Bioware (Mass Effect,Dragon Age Series) and published by Electronic Arts (EA), Star Wars: The Old Republic is a MMO (Massively Multiplayer Game) set a long long time ago in the content rich Star Wars universe years before the movies.

You have the choice of Jedi or Sith. The war between the Jedi & Sith is at large and you could be the difference between one prevailing and the other falling. Rising through the ranks, the player can explore various planets and stars throughout the galaxy, packed with thousands of hours of Quests, Side Quests and exploration with friends or family all over the world.

The games visuals look fantastic, game play is smooth and similar to World of Warcraft, and the game has mass potential when it comes to expansion packs in the future.

The subscriptions for this game can be bought in Monthly & at 3,6 and 12 Month intervals and the prices are very similar to WoW prices. Although they vary from country to country.

Although Bioware/EA has limited the number of copies sold (around 2 million) worldwide to reduce server failure and to increase stability. The games future looks set with mass support by fans of Star Wars and of Bioware and could possible reach 7-10 million players world wide by mid next year if the cap was lifted.

This game is a must for anybody, Star Wars fan or not. Watch out World of Warcraft. Their is a new kid in town.

Dissapointment in a box

Having been an MMO nerd since the late 90s, I was just expecting more from this product.

As with most reviews I've seen online there are some excellent features to the game, Vocalized story lines, AoE looting, excellent graphics and character animations, and customizable gear. (use of inserted items to make the gear better)

However some of the things that have caused me not to redeem my CE code yet are the following. (I was in beta for over a year and my wife is still currently playing):
-Character creation leaves much to be desired

-Combat can be glitchy, especially for casters

-Unbalanced classes for PvP

-Limited use of Starship (ala Mass Effect > SWG)

-50 item Auction Limit (Tons of greens can't sell)

-Static UI (No customization)

-Vendor/GTN Search functionality is minimal at best

-LFG while present is not as function as other mmos

-Minimal Guild options

-Very Theme Park no room for true open exploring (on planets or using your ship)

-Overall missing many bells and whistles that are standard in other games currently.

Some may say it's unfair to compare this game to WoW or any other mmo on the market, however when you ask me to pay a subscription to your game you have to make me want to give up paying my current one. The Old Republic does not at this time make me want to cancel any one of my other 5 active subscriptions.

While I only rate this game a 3, I have many friends who the storyline is plenty for them. I will likely wait until the first large content update or expansion before I throw myself into it.

My apologies for the format of this review as it was I was not allowed paragraphs or spaces.

A great game, a must have for star wars fans (like me) and mmog/mmorpg fans

I LOVE star wars so I was hoping that SWTOR would suit my needs for a mmog and I am very pleased to say it does. I bough the SWTOR collectors Edition because I wanted all the extras, especially the soundtrack. If you JUST want the game with no extras, I would recommend the standard version of SWTOR. If you want physical and digital items the SWTOR CE is the way to go. Also the Statue of Darth Malgus was one of the best physical item I ever got from a video game, especially a SW one. Its made by Gentle Giant, a really good company that make QUALITY statues. I was suprised that in the game box itself it included $30 off another Gentle Giant SWTOR statue, that retails at $50!!! so you only have to pay $20. Now the game itself is INCREDIBLE with no lags and no crashes. The story line and pvp/pve is incredibly good.

In conclusion the SWTOR CE is one of the greatest CE's I have ever got and includes the best extra's, physical and digital. You should watch out for good deals on it. Like I got mine for only $80 NEW!!!!!. So just look for cheaper ones if you dont want to pay the retail price of $150.

Unless you REALLY want the Darth Malgus statue, this box set is not worth it. The special Collector's store in the game is a joke, it only has a few items that noone wants. The security key is not necessary as there is a free smartphone app from them that does the same thing.
