Stargate: The Ark of Truth (DVD, 2008)

The Ark of Truth is a continuation of the popular Sci-Fi Channel hit, Stargate SG1. As explained in the Special Features on the DVD, this is the storyline the writers and producers would have followed had they been allowed to continue for an 11th season. Why the Sci-Fi Channel canceled such a popular show is beyond me and millions others, but that is for another debate.
The Ark of Truth is beautifully shot, well acted, directed, and is full of the usual wit and wisdom displayed by the characters in the TV series. The ONLY problem I really had was that a few of the special effects looked a little cheesy, like they were done on an old video toaster, though I know that's not the case. Having said that, I found those few effects did not detract from the story line and most of the other effects really were spectacular.
Having been a Stargate fan from the beginning, and retired military, this DVD is a must-have and it is exciting knowing that the producers wish the Stargate saga to continue in the two hour DVD format. I even like the idea of going straight to DVD. I have seen too many television series fail when trying to convert to the big screen. It was created and made successful on television and that's where we, the fans, are comfortable watching it; in the privacy of our homes with the surround sound blasting as loud as we want.
This is a ten thumbs up and I am anxiously waiting for the next and next. As long as the actors are willing and can continue "their motivation."
Should you buy it? Only if you are a true Stargate fan and want to see the storyline with the Ori come to a logical and profound conclusion. . . or does it? Can two descended beings really destroy each other??? We shall have to wait and see.

Stargate SG1 was a long time running television show. When the show was finally canceled a number of story threads were left undone and the very vocal fan base felt cheated that the show ended but the stories were not concluded.

As a result a stand alone DVD was released to wrap up the Ori storyline. Stargate: The Ark of Truth picks up right after the end of the final season of Stargate. This DVD movie helps wrap up the Ori storyline and explain what happens to SG1.

I will not go into much depth into the plot because I do not want to ruin the movie for you. However, the special effects are top notch and the story is once again spectacular! :) This is a great movie and it is basically a season of the television show condensed into a feature length movie without ads! :)

I was hooked through-out the entire movie and did not feel cheated at the end. A great way to partially conclude the television series. Stargate: Continuum will is now released in order to conclude the Baal storyline!

Hi all = Why did I decide to buy the Stargate, The Ark of Truth, if you are a Stargate lover or addict, like I am. This is a must for you, to help to try finish the Stargate SG1 series and the 10 Season.I am glad that they same out with the DVD movie the Ark of Truth as soon as they did and did not leave us hanging for a long time about the ORI ending. I hope to see more DVD movies like this of SG1. It is a very good thing that we still have Stargate Atlantis on going!!!!!!!!! This too is excellent series, possible it may be better series then SG1!! I hope they keep going with this series for a very long run like SG 1.

This movie for DVD gave a satisfying resolution to the conflict which was left hanging after the end of season 10, for the SG-stargate series. This is why I bought the DVD. Graphics and music were good, but not on par for a theatre version release. Acting was consistent with the rest of the series, which was something I was glad was not changed. On the downside, the malevolent ascended being failed to bring out enough of the "Lord Baal" insidiousness and ruthlessness which would have been expected. on the upside, the replicator modified human did a remarkably good job and avoided what must have been a underlying temptation to over act. For being a post season 10 release, the DVD was better than expected. There should be enough sales from this movie to help the producers to decide a bigger budget movie is in order for the future.

Stargate The Ark of Truth has good edge and straight point about asending being called ORI i thought story was great just alot werd edge missing but in all it give true stargate watcher what they thrist for and great ednding to 10 season final thank Mr.Sha
