A great feature length movie for the fans of SG1
Created: 29/07/08
After the television series Stargate SG1 was canceled a number of plot lines that had been worked on in the original television show were left undone.
During this past year the producers of SG1 have decided to release two feature length movies in order to wrap up the details that were left hanging in the television show. Stargate: The Ark of Truth wrapped up the entire Ori storyline. While Stargate: Continuum wraps up the final storyline of Baal!
The movie starts off with the trial and execution of Baal by the Tok'ra. SG1 along with General O'Neil are invited to come to the ceremony. During the ceremony members of SG1 start to vanish into thin air...
The movie then goes back into time to 1939 Earth. And thus the time travel plot starts to occur. :)
I will not go into more detail then this because I do not want to ruin the movie. However, you get all the members of SG1 in the movie along with the great action that you come to expect of the SG1 television series. You also get to see the System Lords once again! :)
This is an excellent movie that completes the strings left behind by the television story. It also is a good stand alone movie if you have never been a fan or watched the television show.

Stargate Continuum (2nd movie on DVD after Season 10)
Created: 10/09/08
This is the second DVD release (2008) after the end of the TV run for Stargate SG-1. The plot involves the Goa'uld leader Ba'al using a time traveling device to change past history by intercepting the Stargate that was discovered back in 1939 and was being transported by a freighter. Teal'c and Vala have their previous history rewritten. The remaining team members have to find a way to get to one of the hidden stargates in order to undo Ba'al's history alterations. The Goa'uld invasion fleet arrives at Earth to take it over. The Stargate at Antarctica becomes inaccessible and the team goes to Russia to find the other gate. Eventually, it is up to Cameron Mitchell to travel back in time to stop Ba'al from the point at when he changed history. I have also seen the Stargate: the Ark of Truth DVD release (2007). Comparing the two, I would have to say that the first DVD movie had a better plot and scenery. The first DVD release seemed to fit in a movie screen better than the second DVD release. This particular episode felt more like one that was made for the TV screen. The plot was OK, but the issue regarding time travel and having two exact people from different time periods existing at the same time was never fully explained. Also, the ending when Mitchell "corrects" the time line also left a hole as to how he was able to return back to the original beginning part of the movie (if he used the Stargate to go back to place to where he started, what happened to his "double"?). But I guess time travel themed movies always leave many unanswered questions.

Like the TV show, My expectations too high?
Created: 16/04/10
Like the TV show. Everything builds up to the big climax (everyone dies in that great hollywood manner, the world ends, all the puppies turn rabid etc. etc.) and then after all hope is lost all is saved by one plot twist.
Did I just ruin the film for everyone? Did I just write a spoiler?
Not at all. This is Stargate. What did you expect? Isn't this the plot of each and every show?
But, here we get it all in one nice movie.
Don't expect any wild plot twists, surprise endings etc. Its just a wrap up of the series. The antagonist, get his just dues, but only after the timeline is 'fixed'.
Get it if you want to see time travel, Jack, and all the regular cast. explosions, ghaoul ships by the hundreds, the earth being destroyed, ships locked in ice, and the final snake dying.
Don't get if you only want to know that the last snake dies. It does.

Stargate: Continuum - The saga continues
Created: 13/10/08
For every Stargate fan this was a fun ride with one big exception; I feel it was similar in storyline to Star Trek TNG: First Contact. If anyone remembers the Star Trek movie, the crew travels back into time to stop the Borg who traveled back into time to stop the humans from achieving Warp technology. In Continuum, the Goa'uld travel back into time to stop the humans from finding the Stargate. The SG1 crew figures this out and travels back into time to stop them. That being said, Continuum is still a thrill to watch. Most of the special effects are fantastic. I was happy to see Richard Dean Anderson return, but not happy he only had a minor role. All the familiar faces are there during the movie's opening shot that travels through Stargate Command without an edit! That was an amazing feat! Having a Steadi-Cam strapped to me before, I was highly impressed by the operators ability to go that long distance in one moving shot. I was also impressed by the studio building a beautiful set complete with ceilings. I fully believe that if you are a Stargate fan this movie will not disappoint you. I can only hope that the producers are not done with the show, but with Amanda Tapping now starring in her own show "The Sanctuary" she may be done with the series. I hope not. I'm looking forward to Stargate Atlantis movies now they have decided to end the TV series.

NO Disappointment here!!!!!

I waited with much anticipation for the new SG movie and certainly was not disappointed. Here is the quick plot line: Baal travels back in time and prevents the Stargate program from ever being started. SG-1 team must somehow restore history and once again save the galaxy from oppressive domination.
Now at the beginning of the movie, it is just like the good ole' times, the gang is together and as always cracking you up. oh and JACK IS BACK, for a couple short but sweet appearances :o)
The movie was very exciting, action packed and as always full of great scenes and effects, I don't want to give too much away. This movie, in my opinion, was certainly better done than The Ark of Truth. At the Ark of Truth the movie was rushed at times and if you never watched SG-1 before there were many scenes were one simply couldn't relate to it. Not so in "Continuum". Even if you have limited knowledge of this incredible Sci-Fi show...you will thoroughly enjoy this movie. It was less rushed and certainly not a disappointment, well except you are left WANTING MORE of course!
Now the question is: Will there be more? Let's hope so, as I am not ready for a LONG time to let go of this incredible saga with endless possibilities.
MORE SG-1 please!
