Box Set Blues

Don't let the rating fool you, I personally rate the SERIES "Stargate SG1" five stars, and think the series could have gone on forever, and has continued quite successfully with Stargate Atlantis. Who knows where it will go from here?
As for the bonus discs, there is a lot of interesting material, if you have the time to watch this much video. For those of us who do not live attached to our TV's, all the DVD extras can seem overwhelming.
And my final comments for all interested in this box set, or any series sold in similar boxed sets, you would do well to buy the individual seasons in regular DVD storage cases. This display box looks impressive on the outside, but the slide-in cardboard 'books' in this set are near impossible to use without scratching the discs, assuming they even made it to the consumer scratch-free.
When I opened my brand-new set, one disc was out of its sleeve and free-floating in the available space, and several other discs had rub marks from the vibration during transport. It took requesting a replacement set for me to get one complete set with only minor scratches, all the defective discs included in the return.
Of course, this set went straight into slim-line double DVD cases, so as to avoid future scratches from sliding cardboard sleeves, and the set still fits in the deluxe display box.
I do not recommend this or any other set packaged in this type of disc storage unit, and suggest that anyone buying such a set should have DVD cases on hand to transfer the discs immediately.
Good luck with your furure purchases!

Great Series Great Product

I can't believe that they actually sold this entire series for a price range around $150. Stargate SG-1 is the best sci-fi series since Star Trek: TNG and only gets better the farther you get into the series. With a 6600 minute runtime you will be kept entertained for months if not years with new episodes to watch each time. Even after the episodes you have another 4 dvds of exclusive extra content for the Complete Series edition.
The Stargate is a device created by an ancient humanoid race that ascended beyond the physical form into an energy life form. In this form they hold the knowledge and experiences of the universe but refuse to communicate or affect physical beings who have yet to ascend. Earth comes into the picture around 1945 when after the Stargate is found buried in Egypt is sent to America to protect it from Nazi German possession. However the American government doesn't know how to use or even what the Stargate is. Much later on the Air Force learns about the Stargate and starts to try to make it work with no luck. Daniel Jackson an archeologist who believes that the pyramids were once landing pads for starships was brought into the program to help discover the secrets of the Stargate. Through Daniel Jackson they learn that no only is the Stargate a transportation device but a device that can transport to thousands of ten of thousands of other gates in this galaxy. That is where this series starts.
If your a fan of sci-fi then this is great buy and will last you for a very long time. Not to mention the case for the dvds is well made and very compact for storing 54 dvds.

Stargate SG-1 complete series a must have!
Created: 04/12/10
I have been trying to watch Stargate SG-1 from the beginning. I had only seen the movie and a few shows, and I got hooked. But downloading them; even buying single episodes, or using Hulu to watch on a small computer screen with commercials was very impractical for me.
So I purchased the entire series. I bought one very reasonably from a great Ebay seller in a sealed box. I have since been watching them when I can. I travel for work; so I bring some of the DVDs with me on the road, and it is great when I want to watch something good, but there is nothing on for local TV. I just pop it into my PC and I have my shows.
I would recommend this extremely good value of the whole collection to anyone interested in watching and owning it. The value for the dollar is outstanding, the action and adventure are fantastic, and the science-fiction opera is more than worth every penny.

Stargate SG-1

In 1928, a strange metal ring is discovered in Egypt. For the next few decades, archaeologists and scientists can't figure out what it is. Then in 1994, a young archaeologist named Daniel Jackson discovers that the ring is an ancient, but advanced, piece of alien technology which can transport matter across the galaxy in a short amount of time. A team, led by Col. Jack O'Neill, go through the Stargate and discover new worlds and alien races; some friendly, others, not as much.
There's really nothing to say about this show that hasn't already been said. It's just awesome! The show picks up right where the movie leaves off and opens up a massive universe which we only got a small peek of in the movie. The acting is great. The characters are great. The stories are so well written. The show is action-packed, humorous and dramatic, but not so dramatic that it becomes grim.
THis Set is the best way to get your SG1 fix, it has it all..enjoy

What a buy!!!

How about movie quality TV? Stargate SG-1 is 10 years of movies made once a week. The plots are great, the action is unreal, and you can (for the most part) let your kids watch them.
The DVD disks are housed in a case that includes a booklet discribing all the series segments and 4 disks of special features.
