Starship Troopers /Starship Troopers 2: Hero Of The Federation /Starship Troopers 3: Marauder (DVD, 2008, 3-Disc Set, Special Edition)

Starship Troopers is based upon the book of the same title by Robert Heinlein. all are set in the future when Earth is at war with "bug like" inhabitants of another planet. The first movie follows the story line of the book fairly well although, as usual, the book was much better than the movie. The book was albe to devote more efort to character development and setting the scene for action. The movie had to move into the action much more quickly.

The second and third movies of the trilogy are based upon the first movie. They continue the saga of the continuing war against "the bugs."

Special effects are good with lots of violence against the bugs. Story line in the first movie was good as it was based on the book. The sequels were not as interesting (in my opinion) though they were still interesting.

The book stirred up a bit of controversy at the time of its publication. Heinlein seemed to be glorifying the Fascist form of government which rules the Earth during the war against the bugs.

All things considered, the movies are entertaining for fans of science fiction and for Heinlein fans if they don't mind a few liberties being taken with the original work.

I already have volumes one and two and decided to bid on the set instead of on volume three seperately. Glad to have the boxed set.

i fell in love with the first movie for ist outstanding acting. The violence in the movie was done with taste. however, the socond movie was slightly dissapointing due to the "overdone" nature of the gore and extreme violence.
It was more like masters of horror that a famed sci-fi film. the whole hour and a half screamed that it was done in haste. the third was better that the second by far, but still, it wasnt good enough. there just wasnt enough of the maurader mech suit to do the cover justice, i think that the whgole scene was only about 5 minutes. even though they dished out some serious damage in that amout of time, it just wasnt enough. im not satisfied with the other two movies at all. i'll stick to the first one thank you very much.

I've bought this movie set because of an excellent book written by Robert Henlain 50 years ago ! The first movie is good and brings a lot of good memories.
The other two and especially the 2nd one which is horrible low budget horror with poor acting and crappy storyline.
The third one has Casper van Dien back, and it's interesting to see some things tied to the first movie. But other than that, I'm sure I'll not watch it again. All those discs contain a digital copy so you can transfer it to your computer or a player which is nice.
I paid $18 including shipping for this set and it's not worth it, the first movie can be purchased for less than $9 shipping included. So ... there it is.

If you like killing Big BIG these films are for you, its a world of fantasy. that the federation rules, its funny, illy, but full of action, I bought it and watch them when I get bored, a great rainy day break or whenever you just want to kill BUGs.

I Love the First Movie of the trilogy of starship troopers: it has action, special effects, and above average storyline. The Other two movies after are the ones you watch once and rarely ever watch again. If you can get all three movies for under $15 then its a good deal.
