Movie synopsis

Dave Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) and Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson (David Soul) are plainclothes cops patrolling the streets of an unnamed American city (portrayed by Los Angeles) in a 1973 red Grand Torino. Dark-haired Starsky, who has an unflagging appetite and a quick quip for any situation, and tall, blond, Hutch, who is more soulful and serious, are not just partners on the job--they are also close friends. But their unorthodox methods are endlessly frustrating for their boss, Captain Dobey (Bernie Hamilton). The duo has a powerful ally on the street, however, in Huggy Bear (Antonio Fargas), a shady character who proves Starsky and Hutch with plenty of inside information. Perhaps the prototypical 1970's American cop program, the series ran on ABC-TV in the U.S. from 1975 to 1980. Season one contains 22 episodes.

What's there to say? this is the show that really launched the cop/buddy genre,
great action, good story lines and fearlessness in addressing social issues of that time. it had the right combination of characters and actors, great comic relief and interesting sometimes even emotional plots, unfortunately for those of us who were fans of the show, (in my humble opinion) the movie with Stiller/Wilson was kind of a disappointment. but we can relive and recapture those moments of excitment with the original series on DVD...the quality is great and the special features are a nice touch. there are some great shows out there today and some that are really just...well, not great. but i think that Starsky and Hutch holds up well 30 years later. and take notice, David Soul and Paul Michael Glazer performed many of their own stunts...they weren't afraid to get bumped and bruised like so many of todays divas!

The Striped Tomato Rides Again!

Created: 05/02/10
I loved the duo of Starsky and Hutch back in the day! Back then much of the appeal was the "Tomato" ( the car). After purchasing this DVD collection I see those guys, Glaser and Soul, appeared to have a lot of fun filming the slightly slap-slick cop show. My 17 year old son and I have had may enjoyable evenings
re-living the '70's via Starsky and Hutch. We have had fun catching the bloopers
that made it to the final aired versions. It was definitely low budget in the first few episodes.
My only regret in purchase is that I did not buy Season Two at the same time.

Starsky & Hutch TV Series

Created: 11/07/08
Although used, dvds were in mint condition. Grew up watching Starsky and Hutch. So nice I found the series to watch all over again. Cool, hotrod, cop car, cute undercover police with great personalities. The characters in this series are funny and very entertaining. This series has action, humor, love and serious story lines, but without all the gore and violence that todays tv series have. Very happy that I was able to find Starsky and Hutch on dvd and in great condition at a very good price. I look forward to getting all the seasons. I can even watch this tv series with my children in the room. Not very many tv series today you can say that about.

Starsky & Hutch - The Complete First Season

For Starsky & Hutch followers in the '70's, this is a MUST BUY. It is so much fun to watch and also to compare this "crime" show to the ones of today. It is not as gory or graphic and there is always some humor in the show. Since I never missed an episode back then, I had to start my collection with this purchase. It is wonderful to watch again.

I really like my copy of Starsky& Hutch season one. It is just as exciting watching now as when it first aired. I bought this after seeing a couple of episodes on tv and wanting to see more.
