Movie synopsis

STATE FAIR (1945): Good old-fashioned hometown pride is on exhibit in lavish Technicolor in this remake of the 1933 film, the only Rodgers and Hammerstein musical written directly for the silver screen. When the Frake family travels to the fair, Ma and Pa (Charles Winninger and Fay Bainter) enter contests while daughter Margy (Jeanne Crain) and son Wayne (Dick Haymes) both fall in love for the first time. STATE FAIR is attractively photographed and energized by the vibrant performances of the talented lead actors and actresses, but the high point of the film is the colorful hoopla and hullabaloo of the fair itself, a bustling nexus of strange, wonderful, and hilarious characters brought to life by the fine supporting cast. Songs from the Academy Award-nominated score include "It's a Grand Night for Singing," "That's For Me,'' and the Oscar-winning "It Might As Well Be Spring."STATE FAIR (1962): This remake of the 1945 classic--itself a remake of the 1933 film--was shot on location at the Texas State Fair, the U.S.A's largest of its kind. The plot stays true to the original, with Pat Boone perfectly playing innocent farm boy Wayne Frake, who falls for Ann-Margret's Emily Porter. Bobby Darin co-stars as the rebellious Jerry Dundee.

LOVE BLOOMS>>>> at the Texas "State Fair" !!! In sweet and simpler times, yet the dance of**** fun & love ****is the same since the begining of time!! With Pat Boone & the beautiful red head, Ann Margaret__also staring the multi-talented Bobby Darin & Pamela Tiffin!! This DVD has both, the original 1945 version and the 1962 remake! I am a Bobby Darin fan!!!! owe by the way, I might add--- that Bobby & Pamela perform the sweetest kiss in Hollywood history!! Now thats just my opinion, see it for yourself!!! The first disc is the first state fair with the lovely Gene Crane. Its exciting & wonderful & very romantic & its a funny comedy too.One of the Best Movies of all time.
But then you get a 2nd disc with the Second making of the state Fair with a Wonderful Charming Bobby Darin this is Bobby Darin at his very best. Also in this you get to see Pat Boone( in an unlikely roll for him) as a tough race car driver who woes a very sexy sultry Ann Maragret. Its allot of fun & two for one is great. I have been looking for the first State Far On dvd for sometime & this sellers buy it now prices are great.

State Fair (1945)/State Fair 1962)

These are terrific Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals that seem to have gotten lost over the years. The second version wuth Pat Boone has three additional songs and is an interestion variation ont the 1945 version. The music is great and the various plots are interesting. They are great entertainment.

I was really not interested in the earlier version of state fair and to be honest have not even watched it I only bought it because it was the only way I could get the 1962 version with Bobby Darin and Pat Boone and I was not disappointed it was wonderful Bobby Darin was at his best and a very unusual role for Pat Boone..I have always been a big Darin fan so it was great for me..

Two entertaining versions of this movie.

Interesting contrast between the 40's version and the 60's version. While the stories and music are the same, the interpretation changed with the times. Great fun and great singing. Dick Hayme's voice is perfect and Pat Boone is Pat Boone. But if you are a fan of Bobby Darin, this is one of his best singing performances. Recommend it highly.
