    Album Notes
Jimmy Eat World: Tom Linton, Jim Adkins (vocals, guitar); Zach Lind (accordion, concertina, drums); Rick Burch (bass).Additional personnel: Erich Richter (vocals); Wes Kidd (acoustic guitar); Sarah Pont (violin); Mark Trombino (Moog synthesizer).Producers: Wes Kidd, Mark Trombino, Jimmy Eat World.Recorded at Sound City, Los Angeles, California and Big Fish, Encinitas, California. On its 1996 major-label debut, STATIC PREVAILS, Jimmy Eat World presents a fierce set of songs that lean heavily on the Arizona-based band's proto-emo roots. While the album hints at the group's later knack for blending guitar fury with pop melody (see the catchy "Call It in the Air"), it mainly stands out as a formative outing primarily suited for Jimmy Eat World diehards.

Pretty good, but from Jimmy Eat World I expected more.

    Created: 02/03/11
I bought Static Prevails in order to complete my Jimmy Eat World collection, so I was already very familiar with the band. Sadly, this is probably my least favorite album by them. It's not that it necessarily sounds bad, but unlike later Jimmy Eat World albums, it's a sound that we've all heard before. A lot of it is pretty typical pop-punk, and the songs are kind of forgettable at times. Everything sounds fine; I occasionally listen to the album while studying and there are no tracks that I ever feel compelled to skip. It's just that this album doesn't have the kinds of songs that will instantly make the band one of your favorites the way Bleed American or Futures can.

    Not For The Casual Listener

    Created: 17/11/05
If you are only familiar with Jimmy Eat World via the radio and do not own any of their CDs, this is NOT the CD for you. Buy "Futures" or the self-titled CD. This is their first CD and it shows. This is very raw music. The vocals are poor, especially in comparison to "Futures." There are a couple good songs if you like harder punk/ alternative rock, but this is definitely not the Jimmy Eat World that the radio knows. If you are a die-hard fan, then you should probably buy this CD. It will make you appreciate "Futures" even more.

Jimmy Eat World rocks my world

    Created: 09/12/06
I love this CD because it is simply Jimmy Eat World. I love them to death and they have been my number one favorite band for 7 or 8 years now. Reason I only give this product a 4/5 rating is because it isn't their best album, but still very good. And you have to be a Jimmy fan in order to even like their music. I decided to buy it because I didn't have to spend as much money that the retail price is. All of Jimmy Eat World's CDs are expensive because of their rare amazing music. What can I say?? I love them.

    Good Album

I'm biased, but I just overall like Jimmy Eat World. I like getting my hands on a lot of different albums too, and this album helped enhance my CD collection.
