I think several people would agree to the following statement: The market is flooded with daily devotionals.
As someone who was on the hunt for a daily devotional about 10 years ago, I found myself struggling to narrow down one that was right for me.
- I prefer that scripture be applied to daily living in an example I can relate to.
- I enjoy reading about another's discovery of wisdom within the words.
- I welcome "revelations" of my own.
When I stumbled across "Be Still and Know" by Millie Stamm, my first thought was; this book is out of date, bearing the year 1981.
Nonetheless, I cracked it open to experience a preview of what the devotional offered.
Each day is clearly assigned according to the calendar, with italicized scripture, giving reference to the chapter and verse. Following scripture, is a story applicable to the given scripture, sometimes with humor, sometimes with sadness, but, always, with a certain wit that speaks out from the page.
Each day is given one full page of devotion, with just a handful of days given two pages. Even the most chaotic life can benefit from this devotional, as it's simplistic format seems to cater to the busiest of souls. It takes only about 5 minutes to absorb the text!
I have used this daily devotional for about 10 years now, and still, I continue to receive timely words of wisdom, mental chewing gum, and I always expect to grow with revelations. This devotional delivers!
