She may be a fantasy writer, and in my opinion a really good one, but she was trained as a journalist and edited a national rock magazine at the age of 22. I'd trust her observations a heck of a lot more than I'd trust those of Jim's bandmates (who never married him or slept with him or had the guts to get up in his face and tell him the truth) or other hangers-on like Danny Sugerman (an addled 14-year-old Doors gofer, hardly a likely confidant for a man like Morrison, who chose Kennealy, presumably, as much for her matching IQ to his and her clear spirituality as for her physical attractiveness). It only makes sense she could speak of a side of her husband that no one else ever saw. She makes him real, and it took a lot of love and courage on her part to do that for him when she knew she'd get targeted for it. I for one am very thankful to have her picture of the Jim she loved, the Jim who loved her, to set against all the macho Morrison mythological crap.

This is a very strange book... I read a lot of books about Jim Morrison and none of them told me anything Patricia says in this book. Anything. Forget about Jim the drunk, forget Jim as Pamela's lover, forget anything you know about Jim Morrison. This book is completely different from anything else and most of all, it is the only book written by a living person who really slept with him and shared a part of her life with him. We have anything from Pamela.
What about she was right? It would be a real surprise for a lot of people. I don't know what the truth is, what I know is that I've never read something like that about Jim Morrison. She really believe in what she writes, but don't you forget she is a fantasy writer after all...

Loved the writing and historical information about that era and the Doors. I purchased this book because of my interest in Jim Morrison and the Doors. I enjoy comparing the views of the authors. Great Book!!!

This book a little hard to believe. Unless she secretly taped her conversations with Jim Morrison...it's a bit hard to believe she could remember their exact conversations 20 yrs later. The book is also too long, uninteresting at times, and she comes across in the book as very unlikeable.
