Movie synopsis
The dawning of summer brings little comfort to Frankie, an underachieving student who knows he'll catch hell when his last report card comes in the mail. But he resolves to cut loose while vacationing seaside with his flaky parents, making new friends, falling in love, and discovering a few things about himself in the process.

Jared Leto portrays a young Irish boy, Frankie, who is bound by his family values.
His mother is very strict in her ways of her ancestral upbringing, but Frankie wants his own way.
He plans to have a big party by the end of the summer to get the attention of 2 school girls he dreams of having his first experience with.
He finally catches the eye of one and they become closer.
His party goes off but with a hitch.
Instead of an all out bash, Frankie makes it a memorial party of the late Elvis Presley who is adored by Frankie's best friend.
In the end he crosses the lines he's been brought up with and becomes popular with the girls.
The scenery of this movie is beautiful. Filmed in Wales, and Ireland, "A Summer Fling" is heart warming and sweet.
Very innocent in dialogue, I recommend it to any youngster who is of Frankie's age.
It's modest, but yet, youthful and innocent, and very Family oriented in nature.
I liked this movie very much.
Young Jared Leto is very good in this one and his performance is sweet.
I can't say anything bad about this film as it does show how much of a struggle it is for youngsters to find their place in society, feel accepted, and fullfil their personal challenges.

Jared Leto is fantastic! Set in Ireland, you see the internal struggles of an Irish youth the summer after finishing high school, and what he goes through as he tries to figure out his life. Great cast. Beautiful scenery!

LOL Jared Leto w/ an Irish Brogue! He's the oldest son of about 5-7 children. Father is usually away in plays etc. Trying to figure out what to do for the summer & freaking about if he passed his final. (look up a better summary on
