Publisher's Note
Becky Owens is a talented and passionate young pianist on the verge of adolescence when she learns the devastating news of her mother's critical disease. In desperation, she makes a pact with God, promising to give up the piano and her unparalleled love for music in exchange for a divine extension of her mother's life. When a Mennonite neighbor gives her an Amish doll, Becky finds comfort in the gift, and the faceless doll becomes her confidante during the difficult months ahead. Hospital rules only add to her sorrow -- twelve-year-olds aren't allowed to visit, so Becky and her mother must share tearful smiles through Lancaster General's sunroom windows. A surprise reunion and a lesson in unconditional love compel Becky to rethink her "deal" with God, and the sunroom becomes a place where miracles happen.... Based on the author's childhood, The Sunroom is a touching tale readers will long remember!

In Pennsylvania in the 1950s, Becky Owens learns to accept her mother's serious illness and the likelihood that the disease will be fatal, as she grows in her Christian faith and discovers that love need have no limits

The BIGGEST little book you will ever buy!

When I first laid eyes on this book, I was totally taken back. My first thought was, omg, I paid way too much for such a small thin book! But, if you are even considering this book, let me tell you this. You will never forget the huge story inside this thin book. If you have experienced the loss of a parent, you really need to read this. I find it even helped me sort out feelings left unresolved about loosing my mother and father. Something I was not expecting since I have read pretty much all of Beverly Lewis' books. This was a departure from the typical Amish stories she has become famous for. I can't stress enough that while this book is tiny, it holds inside the biggest journey your heart will ever see. I will never look at a sunroom the same way again. I remember all too well not being able to visit my father when he was in the hospital back in the day that children were not allowed before that rule was changed. The sheer terror of not knowing what was happening to my father. I remember too well that a friends father had died in the hospital and was so worried that the same would happen to mine. If you are old enough to have had this experience, you will also be able to identify with this story on that level. Thank goodness such rules don't exist today. If you are a Beverly Lewis fan, then just get this book and you won't be sorry. I truely guarantee this!!!

An excellent book by Beverly Lewis. i enjoyed it very much. it is a book about love, faith , and sacrifice.I like it how the mother instilled her faith and love for her family during her illness and her daughter loved her by sacrificing her music to make her well. And at the end how things worked out by faith and loved.

As always this book by Beverly Lewis is well written. I love to read, especially about the Amish people. I bought the book so I can continue learning more about the people Beverly Lewis uses as subjects in her books.

A great story that you just can't put down. You just what to find out what happens to the girl and her mother. I wanted to get it as it was the only one of Beverly Lewis's books I hadn't read yet and I wanted to read them all as she is such a great writer. Since reading her books I have found out alot about the Amish and how they live.
