Super C (Nintendo, 1990)

You are looking at a game, that will kick your butt over and over okay let me add one more over again. You will get your money's worth and then some. This is not a game you can pop into your Nintendo (or wii virtual console) and defeat in an hour or two. This is unlike the Original Contra. This game has NO cheat codes for 99 lives. It has a code for only 10 lives.

PROS: Different boss battles at the end of every level. Awesome power ups that will make your guns do different things. My favorite is the SPLATTER GUN. It releases bullets every where. The more points you receive, the more extra lives you will earn. If you are playing this game on the Nintendo Virtual console, the system will hold your current high scores, and will save your game at any time. I defeated this game three times in a row. Luckily the will saved it for me. This game is hard. Offers 8 levels, and different challenges throughout each stage. Fun two player game and you have three continues, so you don't have to start at level one if you loose all of your lives.

CONS: If you are not playing this game on the Virtual Console, then like most Nintendo games of the time, you will loose any data once you turn the machine off. The ending is not too great. Just shows the helicopter flying off. Once you choose to continue the game when you loose all of your men, you will have to start the stage from the beginning. There are no easy, medium, or hard settings for this game, so CASUAL gamers stay away from this one.

But the PROS out lay the cons for this game, so of course my final score is a perfect 5 out of 5. Great Job Konami. Create a game that still gets a perfect score 18 years later.

An awesome sequel to the original. I can't believe I did not know about this game when it was new!! Cheat available to give you 10 guys (look on the Internet). Not as good as the 30 guys you could get on the first version, but still enough to beat the game with a friend and a little practice.

Super C is the sequel to the original Contra Nintendo game. It has all the same great features as the first but different levels and probably more action based on my opinion. Great shooter game and very easy to play. A classic anybody would enjoy at any age.

As a sequel to the NES classic Contra, this game has some big shoes to fill. I would definitely say that it delivers the goods, with more of the same ground-breaking graphics, sound, and multi-player fun of the original. Also inherited, however, is the legendary difficulty. For the casual gamer this game can very quickly become an exercise in frustration. For the hardcore gamer, though, it offers great replay value because of the feeling of accomplishment that you get from progressing through the game. Also of note is the exceptional co-op multi-player. This was one of the main reasons that I decided to add this game to my collection. Even though this game came out nearly 17 years ago I still have a blast playing through this game with a friend. To me that is the definition of a true classic! I would recommend this game to anyone who likes the original NES Contra, is looking for a good challenge, wants to show off what the NES can do, or is looking for a good co-op multi-player game.

Super C is a great game and I'm glad I finally get to play it again after almost 15 years. It's a simple yet fun game to play, especially with 2 players. If there are any fans of the 8bit NES out there trying to rebuild their game collection, I highly recommend Super C, as well as the original Contra.
