Super Mario 3 on Gameboy Advance

Created: 16/07/08
This is one of my all time favorite games. There are different worlds with many levels in them, and a few new abilities, such as the ability to "fly." The game is saved after each level you complete, and you can pick up additional lives and special items in the Mushroom Huts and through the games. This is one of the funnest Super Mario games and I highly recommend it to everyone!

Great classic returns, Super Mario 3!

Created: 18/07/09
As a kid, I was 6 when this great classic originally made its debut. Even then, I saw the vast improvement in graphics that was made through the life of the “Mario” games. Of those, Mario 3 took the spot of my favorite NES game and has held that spot since. Seeing this release for the GBA, once I had a system to play it on (N.DSLite), it was one that I *really* wanted. It certainly hasn’t disappointed me in its nostalgic and classic sense. That the GBA title also includes the original arcade version of the Mario Bros. game (as previous Super Mario Advance titles), is also a nice bonus.

I have only one minor complaint. This complaint focuses around the saving feature. Although nice for a game with this kind of length, there are really two “types” of saves:
(1) A “hard” save: You are prompted by the game at “checkpoints” (castles) on if you wish to save or not. The “hard” saves can be loaded multiple times.
(2) A “soft” save: This is used when you wish to stop playing and use the “start” button to “Save & Quit”. This “soft” save can only be loaded once to continue from where you saved.

This is different from the saving feature that is in “Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World”, which treats all saves as “hard” saves. This is what I prefer as it allows saving immediately before entering any level. If you die, load and repeat. Not so for “Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario 3”.

Overall, however, this title brings back a great set of classics of the NES. If you grew up playing the Mario games of the that system and the arcade game, “Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario 3” is a must buy.

Super Mario World 4/Super Marios Bros. 3

Created: 22/02/08
This is by far the best game of the 80's (albeit 89') Featured in the movie The Wizard, with Fred Savage, Mario makes a triumphant return and SMB3 makes a fantastic transition to the handheld.
Converted for play on the GBA and NDS, SMB3 introduces the use of several suits for Mario to battle evil in, most notably the racoon suit which allows him to propel through the air for short distances, (Flying has been a staple in Mario games ever since, hovering in SMS) The character designs and levels all hold true to the original, but have been smoothed out for this title. If you can find it, snap it up, this title will not be around forever. 10/10

Re made classic now portable and still great.

Created: 21/01/08
Super Mario bros.3, such a fun game that i played it for a long time, enjoying just about every second of it. This remake of sorts is still the same great game, you just dont need to fire up tho old NES to play it. To think you can play this classic anywhere on your gba or nintendo ds and ds light, awesome right? Bought it as a gift since many people in my family played and loved the original. The portable is just as good, if not better in some ways.

The game is just how you recall it. Fun board game style maps and saveable powerups and flying ships holding the dastardly bosses you have to take out to advance. Dont forget the secrets! The hidden stuff is still there, and if you dont know what i am talking about just wait. You will enjoy finding the secret goodies in this game thats for sure, they put such a spin on the game. Think outside the Mario box with this game and you will find all sorts of new things to enjoy. New to this game is a helpful save anywhere feature. For whenever you need to quit right away.

All in all this version of the game looks great, plays great, and is portable. From boring car rides to waiting at the dmv, you can just fire up your gba or DS and youre ready to play.
