Product Information
One of the most respected games in Nintendo's Mario Bros. series, Super Mario Bros. 3 introduced new moves and abilities to the tried-and-true sidescrolling platformer franchise. After the vastly different gameplay of Super Mario Bros. 2 (US), the third game in the series returns to form in glorious new ways with exciting added abilities like flying via the raccoon suit and hammer throwing with the Hammer Bros. suit. The idea is once again to thwart Bowser's evil plans and battle your way across eight different themed worlds to win a kiss from the Princess.

Super Mario 3 for

Levels are somewhat difficult if you dont know what you're doing, but very short (A beginner could finnish each level in about 3-5 minutes depending on the level and time allowance if you pay attention). Each level is timed and going over the time limit will be an automatic life loss and you have to restart the level There are 'bonus' levels which actually are just bonuses. The Bonuses give you abilities to help you play better ,as well as extra lives. If you get attacked, and you are using the 'big' ability (you start out small and this ability makes you normal size) and a 'defense' ability (which you can use at the same time),you dont automatically loose a life, but instead, just loose an ability you are currently using.First hit will take away the defense, second hit will take away the size, Third hit you loose a life and have to start the level over again.
Another way to gain ability tools is to jump up (when standing directly underneath) and hit the bricks. Some bricks have tools which could show in the form of a star, mushroom, flower, feather or leaf; each one does something different.
In each level, to defeat the badguys, jump on the head of the animals, which will makes them disappear (DO NOT JUMP ON THE PLANTS IN THE TUNNELS).If you jump too soon or too late, you will either miss or be hit. In the 'castle' levels, dont get hit by moving objects; with the exception of the ability tools.
this game also has secret moves you can do to go up into the sky to get bunus coins, go into a tunnel to get bunus coins, or 'go behind the scenes' to sneek by the badguys.
This game is fun and I highly recommend it. I would let my 6 year old play it, but may be too difficult for younger kids.

THE classic platformer, outshining its 2 prequels with innovative gameplay

The second sequel to the original platformer classic, Super Mario Bros. 3 is simply THE platforming game for fans of platformer gameplay. The graphics were revamped from the original SMB1, and with the addition of new suits, bonus levels, and the memorable warp whistle, Mario is able to plot his own course through the 8 worlds on his way to battle Bowser.

This game is an art unto itself. Well-loved by nearly all who have played it in the last two decades, SMB3 frequently tops lists of the best video games of all time. And for good reason: this game is simply a must-play, must-own for fans of classic platformers. The controls are fluid and the levels are memorable. Although this is one of the best selling games of all time, the price of this 20-year-old masterpiece is kept inflated by its intrinsic artistic value.

If you've never played any other classic Mario game, this is the one to try. Don't hesitate--run like the wind and take off into the clouds with this game!

The world of Super Mario Bros. 3 once again takes on that charming yet simplistic look that has trademarked the series for years. At first glance, the graphics may not appear to be that much of a step up from SMB2, but there are little appreciative details and surprises around every corner.
The backgrounds are decorated in a way that matches each world's theme. The Grass Land is full of gently rolling hills, green with flora and fauna. The Koopahari Desert has parched sands abundant with cacti, palm trees, and orange skies. Seaside is filled with clear blue flowing waterfalls and deep oceans. The infamous Giant Land, as its name suggests, has enemies, blocks, and other objects that are four times their normal sizes! Ice Land features snow-covered platforms and enemies and coins silently frozen in shimmering blocks of ice. One of my favorite moments in SMB3 is reaching the cloud in Sky Land, and being able to see the spiraling Sky Tower way on the ground below. Sometimes, even the foreground objects are utilized in a way that complements the theme, such as how the blocks in many desert levels form pyramids.

The animations in SMB3 are superb! Mario's walk now has more frames than it ever did before. He has more poses for more situations than ever before (such as flying), and his old poses have been enhanced. Just look at the way he holds his cap down over his head when he ducks! The animation of the enemies is as equally impressive. Watch for Spike, a turtle who opens his mouth so wide that his entire head bends backwards as a giant spiked ball pops out of it. Firesnakes, which are composed of a living fireball followed by a chain of smaller fireballs, bounce and shimmy their way across the desert sands. Pirahna Plants that shoot fireballs actually pivot their heads up and down to follow Mario's movements. Other subtle animations, such as the Fire Chomp's mouth as he spits a flame, the Lava Lotus releasing its polyps, and the turning key on the back of Kuribo's Shoe, help bring to life SMB3's imaginative world.

What's Not to Love?

An instant NES classic! By far the best game on there. It was WAY ahead of its time! I could play this game for hours because of all of the features! Different worlds, many levels, and Nintendo's number one character: Mario! I'd say this was the cause for Mario's success! A must-have for all NES owners!

BEST IN SERIES!!!!!

My favorite NES game is now avaiable on the GBA. This game was just awesome when it first arrived, and It's just as good on the GBA. They have updated the graphics with better colour. The sound has also changed, with the addition of, you guessed it, character voices. Mario or Luigi will say things in their italian accent when getting power ups or 1-up mushrooms. I feel they are a welcome addition, though they are very unliked. Another change is Luigi being different then Mario. He does his crazy SMB2 leg kicking thing when he jumps, thus making him jump higher. Besides that its the same great suit-filled sidescroller. The strange power-ups are still here, and even one new power-up only useable with the e-Reader.

Yes, Nintendo has included new goodies with the e-Reader package. It's a good idea, but you don't really need it to enjoy the game. And of course, the original Mario Bros. arcade game is here for multi-player action.

Overall, this game is just fun. Though alot more challenging than most of Mario's game, it is still amazingly entertaining.
