LOVE & WAVES TO GET BY THE DARK DAYS

Created: 30/12/08
Features Actors: Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Willie Nelson, Scott Glen, Alexie Gilmore.
Rating:R
Running time: 85 Minutes
Steve Addington is an iconic surfer born and raised in Malibu, California. After surfing his way around the world he returns to his hometown to find that his sponsorship has sold out to a larger corporation. Longing to live as he has always lived, surfing and smoking weed all day long, Addington finds his hometown is suddenly obsessed with the new digital age.But Addington is a more laid back Soul Sufer who wants to stay that way. Despite his willingness to keep the new sponsor Eddie Zarno as long as he can continue to surf, he finds that they are only interested in putting him on a reality program and virtual surfing video game. Addington is put off by the whole idea of a digital reality, much less living in a mansion with other surfers just for a reality program, so he decides to surf on his own for the summer. Unfortunately he finds himself in a drought, with no waves to take him away from his painful homecoming. Willie Nelson as his drug dealer and Woody Harrelson as his incompetent easy-going agent.Just as things couldn't get any worse there are no waves to ride, along with not seeing eye with his new producer, his only refuge may be a girl named Danni & trying to find a wave to ride to save him from going crazy.

Most the movie is about smoking, there is some nudity, and sad to say hardly any real surfing in the water.I would have liked to see more of the surfing aspect in this movie. In this movie Addington is trying to make the same point, that he is a surfer out in the ocean not a sufer reality tv guy. Hope this helps you decide. Thanks for taking the time to read this! :) Please click YES at the bottom.

Not at all what you expect given the title. Very good movie. Mild nudity (booby shots) they do show some smoking pot but not over done. Anyone who knows surfers, this is how they act on a daily basis. Actuallt has a surfer sticking up foe what he believes in. Not over done I liked it alot.

Title is pretty accurate

The movie was pretty good. I liked the difference established by the character's for the lifestyle's of the rich and those who just live life to be free of too many social conformities. It brings attention to how things become commercialized for profit when it is better left in it's natural state. One thing is true as a surfer, you can't fake it. Surf's up!

It's really not that Matthew McConaughey is doing his finest impression of Sean Penn in "Fast Times." It's just there is no point to the movie & it's not very funny. He does well at what he's trying to do, but the movie leaves the viewer feeling that they've just wasted an hour & a half of their lives. I was fooled by the cool previews.

Love Matthew!!

I love Matthew and his layed back, casual style! I am also a huge fan of surfing movies. Looking at those things, of course I loved the movie! But if I didn't love Matthew so much as an actor, I would have found the movie very slow and dragging. No real plot. Seemed like a B movie. But I am a Matthew fan always!!!
