Editorial Reviews
3.5 stars out of 5 -- Their 10 new songs average more than five minutes, and they use the time to stack arrangements like store shelves....SSPU salute misery as a kind of ideal, the opposite of love but just as beautiful.
Blender

Album opener 'There's No Secrets This Year,' a tangle of urgent drum bursts and furrowed-brow melodies, builds a nice buzz.
Entertainment Weekly

These dreamy Los Angeles rockers keep the guitars thick and gauzy on the follow-up to their 2006
Spin

3.5 stars out of 5 -- In one song, 'Panic Switch,' singer-guitarist Brian Aubert is a fuzz orchestra unto himself, opening with a dirty grunting lick, jumping into the chorus with an iron wall of strum and stuffing the bridge with rusted treble.

Truly innovative music

Created: 02/06/10
I bought this CD after getting SSPU's former release, Carnivas, which grew on me until I couldn't stop playing it. Swoon is even better...I loved almost every song as soon as I heard it; my 2 favorites are 'Sort Of' and of course, 'The Royal We'. Swoon seems to have a slightly more driven/intense feel, while at the same time being more melodic with less distortion/fuzziness than Carnivas. Nobody else these days sounds like SSPU; their music is truly original and under-appreciated -- one of the few bands I really love from the last few years. Their sound defies description, so if you've never heard them go on Rhapsody or Amazon and listen to samples...if you like alternative rock that actually has melody and composition, you'll be hooked.

Solid Cd, favorite of Seattle's THE END FM Radio

Created: 08/07/10
I am just starting to get into the Silversun Pickups and their 2009 release titled SWOON seems to be a great place to start! I had heard a number of tunes from SWOON on my local Seattle FM Radio Station, known as locally as THE END FM, so I took a chance and won the Cd here on eBay. After just one listen through, I must say that I am impressed with SWOON. It already has 2 very solid hits, "Panic Switch" & "Substitution", and a 3rd track titled "The Royal We" is an iTunes hit too, and when you have only 10 tracks on your Cd and 3 of them are already hits, you must be doing something right LOL! I like a band that can go from moody quiet to wake up the neighbors noise and Silversun Pickups definitely fit the bill, a la Nirvana.
Other comparison would be THE SUBWAYS, whose track "Rock 'n' Roll Queen" is a real favorite of mine. Anyway, I digress LOL! Pick up SWOON, it's a solid effort. ROCK ON, longliveneil

I love this band it's hard to say anything negative about the album. It took me a few plays at first. similar to the 2nd c.d Carnavas in sound and nothing like there first c.d. I would recommend it to anyone who likes them.

Swoon is amazing

Created: 10/06/09
I bought this CD because I had Silversun's last CD. This one, as a whole, is better. I am so glad I bought it now. I normally dont buy CD's anymore, it is cheaper to preview the CD and then buy selected tracks, but this CD is great and the price was even better. I ripped to MP3 files, then I can just resale the CD. How do record companies stay afloat with digital downloads? Who cares, they bilked us music fans for too many years anyway.
