    Album Notes
Death includes: Chuck Schuldiner.Nearly a decade into their career, Death show no signs of slowing down on Symbolic. Granted, some of the riffs are beginning to sound a little tired and there is no great leap forward in terms of their musical ideas, but the sheer visceral force of their sound should please their dedicated fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

5 stars out of 5 -- This is as close to flawless as metal gets, and a testament to the drive and talent of the much-missed Schuldiner...
    Record Collector

With 21st century studio magic lending new vitality to Schuldiner's distinctive vocals and impeccable guitar work, this is an excellent opportunity to revisit a genre classic.

...Scenes explode and disappear, fads catch on and then drift into oblivion, bands grow up, mature and mutate. Not Florida's finest, though...they always sound like Death....up there with 1988's LEPROSY, a gratifyingly unpleasant offering glowingly reviewed in these pages...

I have always been a fan of Death, owning everything by the band, I have had a good listen to all of their music. This particular album, "Symbolic," however, is by far my favorite work by them. Death made a complete turn in their sound with this album, primarily vocal-wise, changing from normal death metal grunts all the way to thrash metal/black metal like screaming from Kreator or Sodom. This change, however, did not upset me, nor did it upset the fans, in fact, it has impressed them.

Chuck Schuldiner may no longer be with us, but his legacy lives on through seven great albums by his band Death, and this one is the cream of the crop. Symbolic redefined technical and progressive death metal, as well as influencing a number of bands nowadays. This album has everything pieced together correctly and is very introspective.

Why Do I Keep Using ebay?

     | No, I would not recommend this product.
    Created: 25/05/11
I own this album on Mp3. It's great. However, I have no idea what the CD sounds like because Import CDs, the vendor that was supposed to send it to me, is a terrible store with customer service skills that would be better suited for inmates at Guantanamo Bay. This would be OK if Ebay cared about their customers at all, but sadly they do not. Basically, using eBay is a lot like going to the riverboat casino to play the slot machines, but at least then you get free drinks and can make fun off old women with a disproportionately high discretionary income. EBay just lets people steal from you while you're sober and alone. If I had any enemies I would set up their computers so that eBay.com was the only website they could access, thereby making them penniless and insane within weeks.

In short, I like this CD. I would like it more if it actually showed up.

    R.I.P. CHUCK

    Created: 23/03/07
one of the best cd's I have ever owned, too bad more people haven't heard death! Guitar work in my opinion is comparable to megadeth( marty friedman days), and malmsteen, others can grunt, chuck could play!

    Another classic by Death!

    Created: 20/12/07
How great is this album, is beyond comparable. In my opinion is the second best form Chuck and co. The solos, the drums, with chaotic double bass by Gene Hoglan and Bobby Koelby displays an incredible amount of solos with Chuck. This without a doubt one of the best death metal albums ever created!
