Frontman/songwriter Mustaine has a lot on his mind, as he ruminates on many of the political and social ills troubling the world, and his words are delivered over grooves and riffs reminiscent of mid-period Megadeth (circa COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION). The overall sound is fresh and energetic, and Mustaine conjures memorable licks, particularly when he trades blazing solos with Poland, as on "Die Dead Enough" and the fierce old-school thrash of "Back in the Day." Mustaine also spices SYSTEM with a number of extra sonic flourishes -- including strings, banjo and keyboards -- making it an unusually intriguing metal record.

Editorial Reviews
THE SYSTEM HAS FAILED is vintage Megadeth, with smart lyrics coughed up in his trademark gruffness.

Mustaine wisely takes it back to the '80s, teaming up with original axman Chris Poland. That means dual guitar solos....Righteous! - Grade: B

The System Has.... Suceeded !

Created: 07/06/07
Upon first listen to Megadeth's 2004 release ' The System Has Failed ', it was pretty apparent to me that this was no ordinary Megadeth album. Sure, there are plenty of good old Megadeth touches throughout the album... but claims of this album being the next 'Rust in Peace' were quickly dismissed. It wasn't until multiple listens to this album that i started to really pick up on what Megadeth was offering - a very good Megadeth album, arguably the best in years, with plenty of fresh, modern touches packed with just enough old school 'Deth vibes to keep the people coming back for more. Don't write this album off because it doesn't live up to your expectations of older Megadeth classics like i did at first. Megadeth probably will never release an album outclassing ' Rust in Peace ' or ' Peace Sells ', but that's not to say that they aren't capable of putting out a worthy release like this one.

Dave Mustaine does not fail

Created: 07/06/06
Once again, Megadeth does not disappoint with some catchy guitar riffs, and quality hard rock. Over the past 5-6 years, I've become a late-blooming Megadeth fan, and so I picked up this CD with no knowledge of any songs. Unlike the semi-commercial "Symphony of Destruction", "Almost Honest" and other songs that really put Mustaine on the radio map in the 90's, "System" is a pleasant surprise. I will be looking forward to another release in 2006.

Super virtuoso musicians playing at super high speeds. The best drummer playing double bass. Rhythms guitars with a smart progressions and awesome lead guitar solos. The best metal band in the world.

Megadeth The System Has Failed Review

This was a birthday gift for my husband, and he loved it! Megadeth is his favorite group and I would recommend buying this on ebay, because it is hard to find in a lot of stores, and I got a great price for it.
