Do You Remember T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents?

Created: 21/04/07
Just finished reading Volume Four of the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives from DC Comics.

From DC Comics???

Weren't the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents from Tower Comics from 1967 - 1969? Well, that would be correct, except that the T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents have had several reincarnations since the mid 1960's, as the copyrights have been resold.

I want to thank DC Comics for publishing this series, as I was never able to read all of the Tower Comics works.

Back in the 'good old days', before LCBS (Local Comic Book Stores), distribution of comics books were very spotty... and newstands or convenience stores did not always receive all the comics published by publishers, or didn't even bother to display them when received! Quite often stacks of them were returned to the distributors for credit without even having the wrapping bands cut!

One thing I must point out... I did enjoy the few Tower Comics that I found during the 1960's, as I especially loved the following creators's works: Wally Wood, Paul Reinman, Gil Kane, Chic Stone, Ogden Whitney, Dan Adkins, George Tuska, and others that were part of the Tower Comics creative staff.

I had previously enjoyed several of the above creators work at both Marvel Comics and ACG Comics. Wally Wood was the creative genius behind this Tower Comics concept and I looked forward to reading this Archives series!

However, after reading this book, and even with the nostalgia that an old fart like me has for the series, these stories just don't hold up to what I remember them as. The stories are very simplistic, very short in length, and dare I say it... juvenile. Not like what I remember at all !! It was daresay.... a bit disappointing to me upon reading them!
