The Alabama-born vocalist's self-titled major-label debut, however, proved to be worth the wait, with Hicks confidently presenting a well-crafted and pleasantly varied set of blues/soul-tinged pop tunes. From its rousing, horn-laden opener, "The Runaround," to the slow, pensive closer, "The Right Place," the record showcases Hicks's smoky, impassioned Everyman voice, occasionally pointing to his notable Michael McDonald influence but never overstating that case. In addition to self-penned songs, the disc features writing contributions by Diane Warren, Bryan Adams, and Rob Thomas, the latter being responsible for the soaring anthem (and album high point) "Dream Myself Awake." Although TAYLOR HICKS was issued within weeks of offerings by other IDOL alumni, including Chris Daughtry and Fantasia Barrino, with its energetic and dynamic performances, it easily stands apart from the crowd.

Excellent CD-Taylor is AWESOME!!

Created: 16/08/07
Taylor's CD is well worth the money!!! On this CD, Taylor proves he can sing anything...and sing it wonderfully!! Taylor Hicks is an awesome talent and this CD has something for everybody...all ages can enjoy Taylor's CD without one worry about the contents of the lyrics. The two songs Taylor wrote himself, "The Deal" and "Soul Thing" (three, if you have the Wal-mart version-"Hell of a Day")...show the immense talent this young man possesses...these songs were written before American Idol...for Taylor's independently produced CD, "Under The Radar" (Taylor produced the earlier CDs himself)...Taylor's versatility as a musical artist shines brightly...not only does he have a gorgeous voice, he's a very talented song-writer and musician, playing guitar and he plays a wicked harmonica...go to a concert, Taylor will knock your socks off!!!!

Taylor is an amazing talent...and he will only get better. What folks saw on American Idol...is only the tip of the iceberg...to really get Taylor Hicks...you need to go to one of his concerts...he's a genius!!! Look for Taylor to be around when other "hit" singing artists are nothing more than a footnote in music history!!! Taylor is definitely here to stay!!!

Buy the CD, you WILL enjoy it!!!

Great Album

Created: 08/01/07
Ever since Taylor appeared on American Idol with his harmonica and southern charm, I was enamored and a fan ever since. I eagerly anticipated his first album, and was more than delighted to buy it the day it was released.

I've listened to it repeatedly. While there are some tracks that aren't as appealing to me, there are a few that I have to repeat often (namely "Just to Feel That Way," "Dream Myself Awake" and "Places I've Been"). This album may not suit everyone's tastes, it will definitely please Taylors Soul Patrollers and other fans who like bluesy/soulful music.

Boy Was I wrong About This one!!!!

Created: 04/02/08
I held back for a LONG time on this past IDOL winner, wanted Chris Daughtry to win, so was a little reluctant to buy Taylors, but wow! blew me away after the first listen, starts out a little slow but by the 3rd to the last song, they are all great! This is his sound, noticed he is not managed by Simon's 19 group? , heard also his record co. dropped him due to poor sales, Clay keeps going with BORING cover crap songs and he will find himself in the same place as poor Taylor. All and all is a great listen. I think if you give the runner ups a listen that they are sometimes better than the winners. Tamira,Kimberly, Elliot and even Justin, you got to admit with all the Grammy's, MTV and Billboard and American Music Awards that IDOL is REALLY a talent show that has made a musical difference!

Taylor Is The Best For Your Money!

Created: 17/05/07
This is by far the best CD out there today. In fact, I have never enjoyed any other as much as this one. Usually when a CD comes out, there's at least 1 or 2 titles not so great....not this one! Every single song is a hit. My husband loves the mix as well.
He did add 2 of his own songs that he wrote that are on his first CD's before Idol & there great.
I have been to see Taylor 6 times and I am going again in June. Just can't get enough of him. He is simply the best of the best. So don't miss the chance to bring some incredible music into your life, bid/buy now!
Like I said, buying Taylor's music is the BEST for your money.
I have purchased over 15 of this CD and made a very Merry Christmas for many, (smile).
But don't take my word for it....buy it and you will see for yourself.
American Idol finally gave us a real IDOL, God Bless America & God Bless Taylor!
Go SOul Patrol.

Loved everything about it. This man has a special voice and he makes you enjoy the music, whether you like soul or not.

I've been a fan of Taylor Hicks ever since he was on American Idol and I had to purchase his first cd. It's a great mix of songs and he is such an entertainer.
