TI-92 PLUS GRAPHING CALCULATOR
Created: 27/02/08
THIS IS A GREAT ITEM. I SHOULD HAVE OBTAINED ONE YEARS AGO BUT THEY WERE VERY
EXPENSIVE AND NOW BEING DISCONTINUED ARE SOME WHAT HARD TO FIND.
ITS A GREAT LEARNING AID FOR VIEWING GRAPHS OF EQUATIONS - SOMETHING I HAVE
NEEDED TO HAVE IN ORDER TO LEARN SOME SCIENTIFIC CONCEPTS.
MY APPLICATIONS CROSS INTO OVER INTO PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY AND MATHEMATICS.
ITS A GREAT TOOL TO HAVE FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS HOWEVER I WOULD NOT WANT
TO EXPOSE IT TO ANY HARSH WORK PLACE ENVIRONMENTS AS THE DISPLAY SCREEN CAN BE
EASILY SCRATCHED. THE EXCELLENT CONDITION AND REDUCED PRICE MADE THE DECISION
TO PURCHASE THIS MUCH EASIER. IT WILL BE WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND USED FOR THE
ENJOYMENT OF LEARNING MATHEMATICAL CONCEPTS. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE AND THIS HAS
NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FUNCTION OF THE TI-92 IS THE DISPLAY SCREEN WHILE QUITE
LARGE AS FAR AS GRAPHING CALCULATORS GO IS STILL SMALL. AT AGE 50 I NEED
BIFOCALS IN ORDER TO SEE ITS DISPLAY SCREEN CLEARLY BUT ITS HIGH RESOLUTION
GRAPHICS ARE AMAZING. A LOT OF SCIENCE IS PACKED INTO THIS LITTLE PACKAGE AND
ANYONE WHO CAN LEARN FROM IT AND PROGRAM IT GAINS VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE. I WOULD
CONSIDER IT A TOOL WHERE AS OTHERS MIGHT CONSIDER IT JUST A CALCULATOR.
ITS AN EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE TO SEE A MATHEMATICAL EQUATION BEING GRAPHED OUT
ON THE SCREEN AND IT MAKES MATHEMATICS COME TO LIFE. BEING ABLE TO VIEW THE
PLOTS OF EQUATIONS DOES WONDERS TO AID IN COMPREHENSION AND ENJOYMENT OF WHAT
IS BEING GRAPHED. IT BRINGS A NEW DIMENSION TO STATISTICS, ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY
AND CALCULUS. WITH ONE OF THESE THE WORLD OF SCIENCE COULD OPEN UP FOR THE
STUDENT AND PROFESSIONAL ALIKE. I REALLY SHOULD HAVE OBTAINED ONE YEARS AGO.
I NOW SEE SOME ASPECTS OF MATHEMATICS THAT I HAVE MISSED. WITH ONE OF THESE
TI-92 PLUS CALCULATORS YOU CAN PLOT, VIEW, ROTATE, ZOOM, AND EXPLORE A NEW
DIMENSION IN LEARNING THAT PREVIOUSLY WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I AM VERY HAPPY WITH
MINE AND WILL CONTINUE TO OBTAIN HOURS OF ENJOYMENT IN LEARNING FROM IT.

Texas Instruments TI-92 Graphic Calculator
Created: 11/03/07
I liked the calculator, however It was not as it was listed. Received a Texas Instruments TI-92 Graphic Calculator not a "Plus", as listed. Great calculator, came with booklet and is very useful in programming in equations and graphs. Not as flexible as the Plus model. Cannot add new software and doesn't has the same memory capabilities.

Amazing calculator for a blow out price

A calculator like this should cost a couple hundred dollars. Since these are discontinued they have been selling for very little ($50-$75). You cant even buy a new ti-83 for that cost (unless you're ebay shopping of course). This calculator does a lot of things, much more then I need yet. I hope to pursue higher math but until then this calculator is not living up to its potential at my house. It operates like a little computer rather than a calculator, granted it's slow when rendering 3-d graphs but it does it. I cant begin to explain its significant features but it does have many mathematic symbols and options that I have never been introduced to, I'm guessing that it does almost anything. Oh yes the screen resolution is much higher than the ti-84 that I use for my current math class which translates to clearer graphs; straighter lines and rounder curves. Great tool, worth every penny to those who could use it.
Two cons: It's quite large in size as compared with the ti-83 to ti-89.
It seems a little flimsy to me, the plastic backing that you have to remove to put the 4 AA batteries in wiggles around when completely closed. That backing is actually the entire back part of the calculator.

Excellent Piece of Machinery

I have tested one of these when a high school teacher had a class set that was retired. The model I was playing with was a standard TI-92, but with some tinkering and a small inexpensive chip, the calculator can be upgraded to a 92+ efficiently. No other TI calculator can be user-upgraded, and if someone was really talented, they could modify the module upgrade to be even higher yet.
Being obsolete to the TI-89 Titanium and Voyage 200 series calculators (and the nSpire, but lets not go there) I still recommend this particular model. The keys are not awkwardly shaped or placed like the Voyage, and easier to find than its TI-89 counterpart. Having polygon-based CAD system built in, you can quickly and easily draw shapes and vectors and find formulas in a pinch.
The thing is a beast, can take several drops before the main shell can pop off and the unit takes 4 AA batteries, lasting longer than it's 4AAA counterparts.
It lacks no features to its newer counterparts and the prettyprint WYSIWYG display makes keeping track of your formulas easily, so if you make a typo, you know right away.
I wish this model didn't become so obsolete, but for being over a decade old, its definitely good for those who are serious, or for those who just like programming 86K programming. And if you like calculator games, this one does them quite excellently, with greyscale dot matrix graphics and its processor excells for that.
If you can get one of these cheap, I recommend it, I am trying to find one myself so I can relive those days of toying with it, because its more fun to toy with this than it is to toy with my 89-Titanium.

The greatest calculator ever - that is affordable!
Created: 02/10/08
This is the far best calculator I could have imagined to purchase for a good price! I have used it for about 5 weeks now, and to my current level of mathematical understanding I could at best use only a small amount of this great calculators capacity! (IOW: It is probably far more advance that I ever would need a calculator to be!)
The only thing I so far, could want to improve is the display, with poor light conditions it is hard to read, but that is about the only thing I can complain about.
If you like me, plan to study a lot of science/physics/mathematics/etc, you cant go wrong with this machine! It is simply that good! :-) (but watch out, it is possible that some universities wont allow it on tests..)
(Here in Sweden, a calculator with 1/10 of the functions/options, would cost about 100 euro, that about 10% more than the cost of the TI-92 with shipping and tax!)
