Looking at all calculator that does not have the yellow casing? Hopefully the seller has a high rating and is trustworthy. If so, great calculator.

I bought a used "Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Graphic Calculator" from a reputable dealer on eBay for my son to use in his Algebra 2 class. He was instructed to buy this or a comparable calculator, but we went for the very best one available for the money.

So far he has had no problems with it, and my son says it works just fine. His teacher has stated to both the class and to parents that the Texas Instruments brand is by far the superior calculator. He bought a similar one years ago, used it throughout high school and through college. Must be a pretty good product.

What most people don't know is that the TI-84 can solve equations with 1 variable, as long as they are equal to 0. For example, if you want to solve 3x^2=5, set it equal to zero (3x^2-3) and graph it. The place(s) where is hits the x axis is/are your answer. You can use Calc->Zero to check exactly where it hits...love this calculator.

Nice solid, reliable calculator.
Graphing function alone is worth the price.
On top of that, it solves for intersections and tells you the value of y when you enter a particular value of x, and all sorts of goodies too numerous to mention, most of which I'm still learning about. Definitely worth the price of admission. I used it mostly for calculations and graphing. You can do statistics with it as well. It's a handy tool to have around once you get the hang of how to use it. Some people say you can get by without the graphing functions, but the graphing functions come with all sorts of capabilities that make other tasks involving polynomials so much easier.
