Screwball Mystery? Funniest Murder Mystery Ever!
Created: 10/09/06
When I first saw this movie on PBS I was laughing so hard I cried. William Powell and Myrna Loy are just fantastic together, they have such great chemistry!
Nick and Nora Charles investigate a murder, try to clear up the name of an inventor and keep their glasses full all at the same time. I have never seen a movie with so much drinking that did not end with an AA meeting or a car crash!
The script is witty and smart and the pace is fast - screwball fast. Highly recommended! cannot say enough good things about this movie or of William Powell - check out My Man Godfrey!

Great Movie That Never Grows Old

This is a great whodunit in the old fashion. Not all the modern waste you see today. Just a simple whodunit that makes you think and is funny. The very best of The Thin Man movies and the best by William Powell and Myrna Loy. Remember this was made not long after the end of the Volstead Act and you could legally get liquor again.
A funny movie, and one, if you never saw it before, will make you think and wonder who did it until the very end.

Great "Classic Movie". William Powell is fab and Myrna Loy is gorgeous and smart. Together along with the cast of other characters in this film make it so much fun to watch. Love the dog, "Asta", he steals every scene he is in.

The Trailblazers in Comedic Who Dunnits

If you like good, clean comedy; this series is for you.
Before there were George & Gracie, Fred & Ethel, or Lucy & Desi; there were Nick & Nora; and they "rocked". Masters at improv, innuendo, and nuance; they could take simple straightforward scripting and leave you laughing at the over-the-top wit involved.
My Son, who is now 20, previously enamored of Beavis & Butthead, has relegated that sort of humor to the trash bin; and now says "The Thin Man series ROCKS!".
Well, for me that says quite enough. Despite being made in black & white, 1930s era studio style; the audience is taken on hilarious thrill ride of mystery/comedy/suspense every time.
Our culture has truly been missing William Powell and Myrna Loy.

William Powell and Myrna Loy a pleasure to watch together. Great acting by the pair. Enjoyable to watch. Too bad they make Nick Charles drinking so prominent in the movie.
