The Thing (Blu-ray/DVD, 2012, 2-Disc Set, Includes Digital Copy)

As far as sci-fi horror movies go, this couldn't get much better. It's a slick production from start to finish, paying homage to the 1982 John Carpenter movie while developing it's own storyline as a solid prequel to that film. In some ways it's even better as of course, techniques have improved in 20 years. Attention to detail and excellent acting is there in every scene and there are enough jumps and threatening situations to keep you zeroed in all the way. I was particularly fond of the way they near-perfectly tied the two movies together at the end, even going so far as to use the same music which urges you to immediately pull out the older flick and pick up the story right where it left off. Great fun!

this is just one of those movies i like to watch to be scared. there are a lot of great scary movies but you gotta get a john carpenter original to make sure you get the crap scared out of you. this is a great movie on blu ray movie.

well done! Better that the original. Follows the original. Updated version of the original. The CGI that this movie needed really the only thing this movie is missing is Kurt Russell.

Very graphic gore and not for children of any age. I thought this would be a clean to watch SiFi film and it was not even close.
