Album Notes
Personnel includes: Barbra Streisand (vocals).Includes liner notes by Sammy Cahn.Personnel: Barbra Streisand (vocals).Audio Remasterer: Bernie Grundman.Liner Note Author: Sammy Cahn.Photographer: Roddy McDowall.Unknown Contributor Role: Bernie Grundman.Arrangers: Peter Daniels; Ray Ellis; Sid Ramin; Peter Matz.THE THIRD ALBUM is a collection of standards magnificently performed by the 22-year-old Streisand. "My Melancholy Baby" is a somber interpretation of the classic tune. "Just In Time" was written by Leonard Bernstein for Adolph Green and his wife as a wedding gift, and contains fantastic electric piano. The album maintains a slow, bluesy feel with tracks like "Taking A Chance On Love" and "Bewitched (Bothered And Bewildered)." "Never Will I Marry" picks up the pace to mid-tempo, while "As Time Goes By" slows things down again, with Barbra paying respectful homage to the original.Streisand's sweet, soulful rendering of "It Had To Be You" is perfect, drawing the listener in for the duration. "I Had Myself A True Love" closes the album, and you feel as if you've just seen her perform at a smoke-filled club. The album contains exceptional arrangements by Ray Ellis, Sid Ramin and Peter Matz. One piece of trivia: the cover photo was shot by actor Roddy McDowall at The Judy Garland Show in 1963.

The Third Album by Barbra Streisand (CD, Oct-1993, Colu

Those were the days when her voice was much better. She is now a has been and thinks she is worth the money people are foolish enough to pay for her concerts. We recall her in Greenwich Village when she was begging in the streets for pennies. She only won her first contest as no one else showed up in a snow storm. I would never buy her last album, it is horrible we have been told.

Even if you don't consider yourself a Barbara Striesand fan, this is masterpiece music. You must give this one a listen! It is smooth jazzlike, crooning, at it's finest. Everysong, is exquistite, it would make an excellant backdrop to a romantic evening for two or just cooking in the kitchen!
