Thriller - A Cruel Picture (DVD, 2004, Unrated, Uncensored)

I'm a fan of 70's exploitation movies. And any cool pic made before this era of excessive political correctness; and the content censorship that sometimes comes with it. If your like me, then Thriller is a gem worth checking out. It really is a cruel picture! Beautiful Christina Lindberg is mute because of a childhood trauma(to say the least). When she grows up and leaves the sanctuary of her farm with loving parents, she misses the bus. Her nightmare begins when a pimp gives her a ride into town. He abducts her and gets her addicted to heroin. She is forced into a life of prostitution. She uses her hidden earnings to learn martial arts, shooting and driving. Then "One Eye" gets her revenge! This Swedish movie is beautifully shot but the slow-mo action scenes can seem to stylish. Be Warned: The prostitution scenes are pornographic. Christina Lindberg alone is worth the price of the UNCUT DVD (107 minutes) Enjoy!!

This film is a must see for any Kill Bill fanatic, as it is what inspired kill bill; especially the character of Elle Driver. In this version - "A Cruel Picture" Limited Edition - you get all of the extra violence and sex that was excluded from the original.

The film follows a poor girl who has a tough time throughout her life, getting raped as a child, then drugged later on after missing the bus to the doctor, only to be kept captive as a heroin addicted sex slave. She trains herself in driving, using guns, martial arts, and military tactics; only to use it all against her captors and rapists. Lots of slow-motion death scenes, and some savage beatings. Plenty of blood and guts! Very cool stuff. If you are looking for something "sexy," though, I do not recommend this film; the sex scenes are uncomfortable at best.

Definitely a good rape revenge flick. The violence is over-the-top for it's time, and the film couldn't have been made better. This movie kept me very interested, and the sounds are way cool to build you up to the violence to come. This is definitely one of those movies that makes you want to go out and film your own!

I am very glad that Synapse Films discovered this piece of gold and transferred their 16mm reel to DVD.

A note, though, if you buy this movie, be sure you choose very specifically between the two editions: the "Revenge Edition" is the lesser of the two; containing less sex and violence, while the "Limited Edition" has everything - very graphic! The difference between the two is the covers: One is called "Thriller: A Cruel Picture" (Limited Explicit Edition) while the other is called "Thriller: They Call Her One-Eye" (Revenge Edition; censored).

See where it all started, a lot of the movies you see now a days are just a tip of the hat to a movie that influenced a director. Well, with this movie you can see a hardcore, literally, revenge flick. If you are in your 20s, there is a lot of things in this movie that you have probably seen before, but you have to keep in mind that this was the early 1970s, so keep that in mind while watching. The actual DVD is of good quality, the transfer is a bit soft and grainy at times, but this only adds the the grindhouse feel of the movie. The extras are great, you can tell that the producers actually took some time and made an effort to get extras that are exclusive to this disk. Anyways, I would give this movie 8/10 stars, keeping in mind that it is over 30 years old. Also, this movie is certainly NOT for anyone under 18 years of age.

Makes honour to its title. It is simply in its plot but very effective.
For the actual price its not a steel but definitely worth every cent. Buy it, enjoy (when you can enjoy a grindhouse movie with low production value and bad translations, exploiting sex and violence). There are hardcore scenes, you can see how a eye get puncured and on the set where used real ammunition. It looks so authentic, because it is real.
I warn everyone in whose mind such things are disgusting! Dont let your children watch this movie, dont recommend it when you aren´t sure the one has a stabile mind.
Why did I buy this? I am not sick, but I am a huge Tarantino Fan and had to buy the Inspiration for Elle Driver in Kill Bill.

To this Release: The limited edition includes the unrated and uncensored version and lots of bonus stuff. The sound is poor and the dubbing awful (watch it original with subtitles!). It looks very decent, wether the quality is bad like most grindhouse movies.

Ok, this is not "campy fun" as some reviews claim, if your look in for a campy shoot'em up flick go elsewhere! It is the roughest, toughest, and most depraved film I have ever seen!! It doesn’t so much as push the envelope as shove it into a corner and mercilessly beat it with a tire iron for an hour and a bit!!! So if you your looking for the ultimate in exploitation cinema, oozing with perverted goodness watch Thriller, but be warned this is not the kind of movie can curl up with your honey and watch on a stormy Sunday night!!!! You'll need endurance, willpower, and most of all a strong stomach to finish this movie, And Remember if your easily offended...GET STUFT, Gooday!
