Movie synopsis

Featuring spectacular special effects set amidst the backdrop of one of the most tragic events of the 20th century, James Cameron's award-winning TITANIC stands as one of the greatest Hollywood spectaculars of all time. Beginning with an undersea expedition in the 1990s, in which scuba divers are searching the sunken ship for lost relics, a painting of young Rose DeWitt Bukater (Kate Winslet) is found. This triggers a flashback to the young woman's story as it happened on the doomed Titanic. Rose is a daughter of privilege on her way to be married to an arrogant but wealthy young man (Billy Zane). Despairing, Rose finds herself falling in love with Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio), a carefree and poor young artist who is also aboard. When the great ship strikes an iceberg and begins to sink, Rose and Jack have only each other as their world falls apart around them.Director James Cameron spared no expense in bringing his simple yet powerful love story to life, building a 90% scale model of the ship, fussing over the tiniest details, and ultimately spending some $200 million dollars. A worldwide smash, TITANIC received fourteen Academy Award nominations and 11 wins, including Best Picture. Despite all the lavish sets and special effects, the film would be nothing without the emotional core provided by stars Winslet and DiCaprio, who give star making performances as the tragic young lovers.

This movie is about a romance between two young people from different backgrounds. In Rose (Kate Winslet, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio, The Aviator), you had a romance that women could identify with, as there are obstacles thrown up to prevent true love for the couple. The most notable obstacle being class, as the early part of the century featured groups that were very structured by how much they made and what their standing in life was. In Rose's life, her mother Ruth (Frances Fisher, House of Sand and Fog) plays a huge part in it, and has virtually arranged a marriage to Cal (Billy Zane, The Phantom) that will put both women in the lap of luxury. Jack just has his sketch pad, and lives the bohemian lifestyle, enjoying every minute of it.
Then the ship hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic, sinking the unsinkable ship, resulting in a massive loss of life. And Cameron's depiction of the events that led to the final hours is both vivid and unsettling. The thing that stays in someone's mind is that when compared to the real-world events. It focuses more on a romance that may work on the screen, but the written word is as wooden as the life boats on the ship.

This is a must see movie, not only a part of history but also takes you back in time, and shows you how different things used to be.A great love story filled with laughter & tears!Would recommend to rent or buy!Hope this helps you decide. Thanks for reading! :)

Another one of James Cameron's greatest movies. Ranked second in the highest grossing films of all time, this movie will make you glad that TV's were invented. This movie is filled with romance and some action. Thrills occur frequently throughout this film.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet play they role fantastically in this amazing movie. Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) wins a pair of tickets to go on a ship to America. On the ship he meets Rose (Kate Winslet) who he falls in love with and wants to spend the rest of his life with. However before the ship can reach America a strategy happens as the ship hits an iceberg. Jack's and Rose's lives are at risk as they try to survive the sinking ship.

This movie is great for all audiences ages 13 and up. Great for romance lovers.

THE WAIT FOR THIS EDITION WAS WORTH IT!

The best thing about movie, is the writer director fabricated a story to put aboard this doomed ocean liner. If you're an enthusiast of the history of the Titanic, you've aware of every story about the people on board the night it sank. To create a ficticious set of characters was a brilliant idea. Since we all know how the story of the Titanic ends, following characters we've never head of left us an opportunity to follow the story with a bit of naievette. However, the real prize in this box, is the special features. The research and the attention to detail is on this production really gets the exposure missed in the original DVD release. It is a beautiful story simply in the making of this movie. It will follow in the footsteps of epic movie making. I highly recommend getting this DVD set for your movie collection. It will be worth revewing from time to time and full of trivia facts that will come in handy when having long and pointless discussions with friends about movie making history.

Coeur de la Mer

Created: 07/04/11
Heart of the Sea/Ocean--serves as metaphor for this marvelous Titanic tale. This dvd has been so difficult to obtain! It continues to bid way high. I have wanted to re-watch it for so very long & finally have and it is captivating. Such a wonderful love story, filled with intrique, and conflict of morals--as remembered and retold by the 100-yr-old Rose who survived the Titanic and went on to have a wonderful and rich life! Just watching the ship's sinking and the people who died -- there were not enough life boats on the ship to begin with, and after the iceberg crash, 700 people were in 20 boats, and only ONE boat came back thru the corpse-filled ice-cold water to search for survivors--1500 people were in the water and only 6 of them survived. In this fictitional account, Rose was one of them. The orchestra--4 men with strings--played outside in the cold,on deck, throughout the mayhem and frenzy to abandon ship and one of the Irish from Steerage deck exclaimed "Music to drown by--now oy know oym in forst class." The scary excitement of the ordeal of Rose and Jack trying to escape at the end was thrilling. This is truly another classic for all time. A wonderful remake of the Titanic story.

Titanic-the movie.

Created: 18/02/09
I have seen many versions of this movie made through the years, some even in black and white but this version by far is my favorite. The characters couldn't have been better chosen for their parts and the costuming and scenery is absoulutely wonderful. Every storyline was different but this one was my favorite by far. It all centers around the hunt for a lost diamond, La Couer de Mer, and the love of two people for each other. It flows seemlessly through the movie and you get very caught up in the moments. It's just like being there and you are one of the characters. When it's over you just wish it could continue and keep playing on. I love this movie and have always had a curiosity about the Titanic even as a child. A horrific tragedy for so many and an unforgettable experience for others. I went to Branson, Missouri just recently and toured the Titanic museum, and it is amazing. Too much to describe, you have to be there to experience this for yourself. I want to go back again. A definite must see for everyone. Best time to go would be in the off season this way you don't have to wait in long lines to get in. It's a popular attraction. From the outside it even looks like the Titanic. It's all a self-tour experience where you take your time going through to see the many exhibits on display. Very interactive.
