Titleist 907D1 Driver Golf Club

Gotta love that Titleist technology!
I have tried many drivers over the years with so many shaft combination's your head would swim trying to keep track of them. What I discovered is that it turns out I am a Titleist man. I certainly did not start out that way but when I finally decided to try Titleist after Callaway, Taylormade, Ping, and MacGregor, I finally found something that fit my eye and sounded great. After trying different Titleist combination's, I found that the Aldila NV family of shafts seemed to work best for me, not the Fujikura Speeder series. Marketing aside, it turns out you have to have a correct (for you) shaft to get the most out of a driver. After 975's I went to the 905S then back to the 983K family of drivers and settled on the 65NVS shaft by accident and was so pleased I thought I was done driver hunting. In a fit of experimentation (and declining distance)I went back to the MacTec and found a lot of distance but fewer fairways. After some research I decided the answer would be a 10 or 11 degree driver in this family of drivers since they feature a closed face in these lofts to minimize my shots lost to the right. Then I gathered my thoughts and began to research the newer offerings from Titleist. I was pretty sure I wanted a traditional look and I sure didn't want a big driver, but research (and common sense) led me to re-consider. I discovered that the lie angle was more upright in the 907D1 than the more traditional Drivers in the Titleist line-up and I knew that would work to my advantage to help keep me from visiting the right side of the course as much. I also decided that if I got the right results, even an unorthodox driver becomes a handsome thing at address. After hitting the 907D1 "Triangle" I finally found a replacement for that 983K. I hit it straighter than the 983K and longer than even the MacTec. I was frankly impressed. In all fairness, I have been undergoing swing changes and the rounds have been up and down for the last year even with my 983, last weeks 98 with the MacTec and this weeks 78 with the 907D1 have made a believer out of me that the right shaft AND game improvement technology can make a difference. If you have the wherewithal, there is no question in my mind that proper fitting can really help a golfer. Too bad it took me so long to find the right shaft and driver combination by the old school method of experimentation. I typically shoot in the lower 80's and carry an 11 index and at 57 I now play from the whites most often as a concession to the march of the years. Still, I hit the 907D in places I never hit any of my previous drivers and carried bunkers I've never carried before. This is a 9.5 907D1 I'm using to replace the 983K 10.5. Both have factory Aldila NV family shafts. It took me about 5 drives to get used to the 907D1. I doubt it will leave my bag anytime soon.

Titleist for average players?
Created: 07/03/08
Typically get bored with drivers after 3 years. I still feel the driver is the hardest club to hit in the bag. Any error is compounded with the added length. Nervous on buying a Titleist because the general golf population sees their drivers generally reserved for better players. I did some reading, golf reviews, pulled up internet reviews (not Titleist web-site) and spoke to a few golfers who are playing with the new odd shape heads. In my humble opinion, the D1 has the others beat by shape, design and set-up. A traditional look and it grows on you. It is solid black, classic look that feels great at address, giving me additional confidence. Sound is not your typical ping hollow sound from other 460 drivers, it sounds like broken glass when hit, very authoritative. I would recommend a good study of the shafts, make sure you have the right one, and the proper length. Anyone serious about improving their game cant go wrong with Titeist, this club certainly is designed for improving the average players game. And yes, you will hit it longer, more importantly, in bounds! My occasional snap hook is gone with this club. A bad slicer needs help with his swing not a new driver.

Long and Straight down the middle.

I bought this driver because of price and because it had the shaft that I was looking for. I have never had a driver that was as consistant as this one is. I found that despite everything it truely comes down to the shaft when you are talking about drivers. There is something to be said for the head, but without the proper shaft you may as well swing a wet noodle! I have finally found the combination of head and shaft that fits me best. Thant sounds funny, huh?
Anyway, Titleist is the leader in golf for many reasons and this one is definitely on that list. The off-center hits still travel a country mile and it looks appealing at address. You will be impressed with the quality of the club and the sound it makes on a flush hit will make you want to cry.....
All in all the guy at Titleist have themselves a winner in this club and have converted a lifelong Taylormade guy into a Titleist guy!!!!
Great Job!

Great driver (Titleist 907 D1)
Created: 11/06/09
I have been using Titleist Driver starting from 975D, 975L FE, and 905R.
I was pretty happy with 905R performance, but when I found this 907 D1 with same loft (8.5 deg) and same shaft (Fujikura Speeder Stiff), I placed a bid immediately and won this club.
907 D1 has some odd shape of club head, but I did not feel anything wrong when I first set up my address.
This club gives me same distance, bit higher trajectory than 905R, a lot better off center hit.
I think I hit more fairway than 905R and get couple of stroke better.
I recommend many people of this club if the latest Titleist 909 is too expensive to buy.

Odd shape...but, who cares?

During my 20 year golf playing, I must have changed my driver more than a dozen times. Compared to my iron plays, I have always been dissatisfied with my inconsistent driving. This new 907 D1 driver from Titleist is the answer to my problem. The first day I used it, I hit 13 out of 14 fairways (Wow!! First time ever in my life!). I am not kidding. It goes straight and long! Some of the miss hits found the fairways. Those miss hits with my previous drivers would have been a wicked slice into the rough. Over 10 rounds since then, I do not have any complaint. One key thing is to get fitted with the right shaft for I got a better results after reshafting to Fujikura 757 from Aldila By You shaft.
The triangular shape felt a little odd at first. But, who cares really? Percentage of my second shots in play is way up there and I am enjoying golf more than ever. Like many, I do not have enough time to hit the practice range to keep my skill sharp. Under the circumstances, this club is by far best purchase I have made for a driver in a long while.
