) All I can say is WOW ! The Tokina 12-24mm DX PRO is one of the best built lenses in my collection. The photos turn out perfect. The build quality is that of a PRO lens and I can say that this lens will take whatever nature throws its way.
My Tokina 12-24 is the Version I which work only with Nikon cameras with the built in focus motor which is great for my D300s. There is no need for the Version II model unless you have a lower end consumer Nikon withou the focus motor.
I picked this lens up on Ebay BRAND NEW for $335.00 which in my opinion was a GREAT buy. I also picked up a 3 year extended warranty for $35.00 bucks through Squaretrade......
All in all this is my favorite lens which I use for Landscape photogrophy......
Oh, I put this lens up against the Nikon 12-24 and to tell you the truth, I could not see any difference in the quality of the photos. I did notice the build quality of the Tokina to be somewhat better and more solid.

This lens is built like a tank! Sharpness and contrast are superb! Color reproduction is excellent. CA/PF is very minimal for an UWA lens. AF locks on nicely and accurately. AF speed is a little slower due to not being an HSM/USM type focusing motor, but not slow by any means. Excellent for landscapes!

Purchased for my Nikon D7000. Amazing pictures from a landscape standpoint. I believe it is easy to use, focuses in one of the best ranges and depths on the market, and is well priced.
