Movie synopsis

Centered around the wordless (and often violent) interplay between a hapless feline and his rodent prey, TOM AND JERRY's classic cartoons chronicle the epic struggle between cat and mouse with timeless comic aplomb. This collection features 40 restored and remastered shorts from several phases of the Academy Award-winning duo's 60-year history--from the original Hanna-Barbera cartoons of the 1940s, and the Fred Quimby-produced animation of the 1950s, to Chuck Jones' loopy 1960s television series and the original creators' 1970s redux.

This nostalgic two disc DVD has of some of the best of Tom and Jerry; it also has commentary from William Hanna and Joseph Barbera on how they created the concept of Tom and Jerry. It is definitely a collectors item if you enjoy older cartoons like Looney Tunes. Tom and Jerry has won many Academy Awards for best animated cartoon during the 40's and 50's. It also reflects that era with some stereotypes, and contains violence that might not be suited for children without parental guidance.

Excellent two disc set of the cat and mouse. This volume contains many of the cartoons seen on the Saturday/Sunday morning show. They have been fully restored and cleaned up. The quality is excellent. It is a little light on the bonus features; but, this is a small complaint, as the cartoons hold up on there own and rightly so.

We purchased this DVD and found it to be everything and more. Over 40 Tom and Jerry cartoons--7 which were Academy Award Winners. Extras include the "Tom and Jerry" story of how their creation came about and extensive interviews with their creators Hanna and Barbera.

My 2 year son loves Tom and Jerry!!! So did I when I was his age! This is an replacement for the first one, he's played and scratched the first up so much that it won't play! So I bought him a new one!!! The dvd is good, funny, and original cartoons!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unlike Disney who puts their academy award winners on multiple dvd packages, the producers of Tom & Jerry put all of their Oscar winners on one Spotlight Collection. Great for the academy award collector in your family.
