Lara Croft Tomb Raider Legend

Have been playing TR for ten or more years. THIS game sucks. I used to get frustrated with the time trials and puzzles in the old games (up to Angel Of Darkness - which REALLY sucks! Couldn't finish AOD - kept hanging up, rebooted, hanging up, yuk!)- but, I finished all of the games because of the moves she could make - sidestep, backflip, saved games ANYWHERE!!! But this game is really bad! If she dies, you MUST start from the beginning of the lousy "checkpoints" - over, and over, and over, again, and again! Ok! So I'm not a time trial freak!! And worst of all is the camera set up - too close, too far, using and needing the mouse to target and fire instead of automatic targeting like in the old games. These new designers have no idea how badly they fucked up what used to be a classic game. Heck, even in the TR movies she can backflip! And sidestep! I enjoyed TR because of the third person view. I don't like it anymore because of the camera controls. Will definitely try TR Anniversary just to experience what the designers messed up in this game. I also have to thank Stella's walkthroughs for helping me - She keeps me going!
Will try to run the original TR1 on XP and relive the good ol days! Just finished my first First-person game Half-Life! Loved it! One can save a game anywhere! TR designers - take note!!

Tomb Raider: Legend revives the athletic, intelligent and entertaining adventurer who won the hearts and minds of gamers worldwide. Lara comes alive with intricately animated expressions, moves and abilities. An arsenal of modern equipment, such as a magnetic grappling device, binoculars, frag grenades, personal lighting device and communications equipment, allows gamers to experience tomb raiding as never before.

Lara comes to life - the dual-pistol-wielding adventurer's polygon count and animation set has been increased significantly, presenting Lara in the finest fidelity to date

Fluid movement: the revamped control system provides intuitive and fluid character movement
Dynamic animation system puts focus on continuous motion, giving Lara the ability to seamlessly handle any obstacle and interact dynamically with any surface
Move and shoot. Lara uses her physical prowess to combine gunplay with unique signature moves
Variety of player choice - intelligently use the environment, technical gear and weapons to overcome challenging situations.
Physics, Water and Fire systems bring the perilous environments of Lara’s world alive, and challenge the player to improvise solutions to obstacles
Visit a vast array of cinematic & exotic locations including ancient tombs, dangerous jungles, snowy mountain ruins and numerous unexpected surprises in between!
The story is a mix of present and past. Lara is sure that a friend of hers Amanda is still alive, despite being trapped under a pile of rubble underwater, an accident that Lara only just avoided herself. This all ties in with the disappearance of her mother as well, presumably into some kind of vortex as she tried to spare Lara from the same fate. Croft needs to find out what happened and it involves some sort of ancient sword relic that other parties are keen to get into their possession as well.
The tale takes you all over the world to some truly fantastic locales. The attention to detail is fabulous and in fact it is this game that has really shone to me in terms of the fact which shows the potential of the PSP. It simply looks amazing and there is very little to complain about graphically. The only draw back with the PSP version is that you are limited to how much control you have over the camera. This means that you can only reset the camera to which direction Lara is facing which does become annoying on harder levels.
The game has upped the ante from the puzzles in the past where you just had to pull across some blocks to get to a lever or something along those lines, you will actually have to think. Part of my thing was a series of slapping my forehead when you work out what you are meant to do, part of it was really enjoying the fact that this time round, the game is going to throw a number of spanners in your works. Traps and adventuring aside, there is plenty for those of us with itchy trigger fingers. Lara can handle a number of weapons with inclusion of throwing hand grenades.
With a compelling storyline, drop dead gorgeous graphics and a real return to form, this is one game that if you had been put off the franchise then you simply owe it to yourself to find out why Lara and Tomb Raider was so awesome in the first place. I would have to give this one both thumbs up and say that it is a must have title .

This latest installment in the ongoing Tomb Raider franchise has the most dazzling graphics to date. I've played every one since the first, and long-time fans will be bowled over by how gorgeous our heroine has become. As a granny with less than optimum dexterity, however, I found the game interface kind of a pain--Lara immediately turns to face whichever direction you clicked, no longer backing or sidling as was once possible. And the game only saves to checkpoints, so if you blow it 3/4 of the way through a tricky passage, you have to go back and repeat everything you did after the last checkpoint--including any dialog. But aside from that, there's much to like. Lara is now linked via a headset cam to her two cohorts, who contribute information and commentary as well as providing her a valid reason for making remarks aloud. And in the middle of a chaotic firefight, while leaping about athletically and blasting everybody in sight with her unlimited-ammo pistols, Lara now has a slo-mo mode that gets you a great shot of her coming down from her leap while riddling the hapless bad guy with bullets. No blood or gore, however, and bodies quickly disappear. The story line is somewhat intriguing and features a hip, handsome bad guy, a friend from Lara's past who's become corrupted by a force of supernatural evil, and a mysterious and powerful artifact linked to King Arthur and his Knights. It tends to take second place to the game action, featuring of course plenty of collapsing ruins, firetraps, whirling blades o' death and the odd monster. If you've liked other installments in the game series, this one is a must-have.

This is the awesome reboot of the famous series. Toby Guard, the original creator, is back, and for good. Even if you've got tired of the previous games of the series by this point, you most probably will be exhilarated by this title. Just try to keep your New Generation features turned off during some levels to avoid the bugs, and you will dive deep in the whole new world of Lara's adventures and history (sometimes literally). The new controls are much, much improved since the AOD, thes scenery is improved dramatically, and Mr.Folman has composed a hilarious soundtrack that literally struck a tear out of my eye (well, after googling the Ailein Duinn story). Meet new Lara's friends, enemies and sexy polygons =) But it's also a new development of the character, which will become evem more dramatic and deep in the Underworld Game. On the other hand, if you have never played any Tomb Raider game before, this is obviously the best choice to get to know this legendary franchise. It's not so low-res as the original one (which you may even have trouble running nowadays), it's not as glitchy, as the one right before it, it supports modern joystics, and has a commendable storyline. In my opinion, it also has the best Lara's looks among the whole series (given the new technology level - yes, it would be nice to see Rhona Mitra in 10000 polygons, but it was impossible in 1997 - btw, you may want to see Rhona in the Doomsday movie, which is not bad if you like TR I guess).

I love Tomb Raider Games. I have all the other titles of Tomb Raiders. Some with great graphics and plenty of game time. Good plot and a lot of action. I bought it because it had a great sale price and I wanted to buy for a long time. It beat the other competitors outside Ebay. All in all "The price was right"
