    Movie synopsis

Director Ken Russell's vibrant, hyperactive version of the Who's classic rock opera tells the story of a boy (Roger Daltrey) rendered deaf, dumb, and blind by the sight of his father's murder. His psychedelic journey through a maze of abusive relatives and strange "cures" eventually leads to enlightenment and sainthood. The film is based on guitarist Pete Townshend's stage opera, and features a star-studded cast that includes Ann-Margret, Oliver Reed, Elton John, Jack Nicholson, and Tina Turner.

Tommy is still the pinball wizard!!!!

    Created: 29/03/08
How do you review Tommy? You get this film or you don't...regardless of educational background or I.Q. level. It's like The Rocky Horror Picture Show... with a bias towards fans of The Who....you get it, or you don't. Have no idea how young people would view this movie. It would be sad to just say it is dated and very 70's and no one plays pinball anymore, blah blah blah. If this film doesn't smack you in the face, you may be dead already. Whatever - great in superbit DVD....made for the biggest screen you can find. This movie has justified itself - one can research it anywhere. A classic...what can i say???

disappointment in sound and as well as picture. Looks like Sony wasted their time superbitting this disc. The 5.1 soundtrack mix is hopelessly confuse. Stay with 2ch would be much better. The PQ doesn't appear to be any better than the non superbit version. Unless you are completing a superbit collection, might want to skip this one.
