Great GPS for the price!

Its a good product for the price. This one has lifetime maps so you don't have to worry about the device getting out of date or expensive update subscriptions. The 4.3 inch screen is just right - larger in my opinion would be too large and smaller too small. The battery life isn't great but if you will mainly use it in your car then you can just have it plugged in the majority of the time. The lane assist, the red light camera alerts, and the traffic alerts with alternate route suggestions are the most useful features. Pretty easy to use although it will take getting used to. My only issue is the search function. I wish it had better search options for POIs. Some don't come up so I have to resort to looking things up on Google Maps on my phone and then entering in the address into the TomTom. Why not just have a powerful search feature so I can do it all on one device? it would be less of a hassle and a time saver. That alone would boost my rating to excellent. Either way its a good GPS and at this price its a steal.

It's not the top of the line GPS unit out there but for what it offers and the ease of its operation, it's a very good option.
I bought mine knowing I was going on a trip to an unfamiliar city and didn't want to rent a car with a GPS for an outrageous price or try to study a map while driving. I took the GPS unit around my own town to see how accurate it was and it didn't fail me so when I took it on my trip I was happy to never have gotten lost once.
It's easy to use, accurate, fairly quick to pick up a signal most of the time and you have the option if you'd want to of adding your own voice instead of the installed directional voices.

TomTom XL 350 LM
Created: 28/12/10
Well I got this for my mom for Christmas, she had an older GPS from Magellan, but it was too outdated and the maps cost a small fortune to update. So after reading through reviews and consumer reports, I chose the TomTom 350 LM. One of the big decision factors for me was the Lifetime Maps subscription that was included, so she will never have to pay for map updates and software updates again.
There are a few glitches, for one on the map, for some reason it keeps placing a label on where my mom lives for a city that is several hundred miles away, but it's just a small label on the map. Everything else about the maps has been accurate so far.
Another cool feature is all of the voices for the speaker. You can go with the generic male and female voices, or you can download new voices, such as popular TV characters (Star Wars [I love the Yoda one], Homer Simpson, Spongebob Squarepants [I find really annoying] etc.) However for those voices TomTom does charge $12.95 to download them. (Growls I thought they were "Free", found out they only mean SOME "Free" voices available.
And as I mentioned there are a lot of options and ways to customize the software and usability of the GPS. You can download a ton of different images, such as different "vehicle" images that appear as your vehicle on the screen when driving. Plus many other customizable images.
Another plus is this is the widescreen model, and with so many teeny tiny screens on GPS's these days, a larger screen was a must. And the graphics and image quality are very good.
I'm not a huge fan of the included window mount. Personally I would opt for an aftermarket window mount, rather then the included one.
So all in all, it is a good GPS, and worth the money even though it does have a few glitches. My mom likes it and that's the important part! Good GPS! Worth the $99 + S/H I paid for it.

VERY easy to use. I almost didn't even need to read the manual. I like that I can dial in a location, and give it to my lady to navigate there. It has multiple voice settings so that your eyes don't have to leave the road to look at the map. I has an internal battery so it can take a charge and I can ride my mountain bike around town while using it. A great gift for the geographically challenged family and friends.

Great device at a spectacular (refurbished) price. This one didn't have free map upgrades as inferred by some of the other reviews so be sure to check. The maps are mostly up to date so it isn't much of a problem. The internet support for the device is great and opportunities for customizing the images abound. The stock voices are more than adequate. Functionally, it finds satellites quickly, generates reasonable routes and provides great voice and graphic directions. I found the user interface to be a little clunky for more elaborate projects (helped a lot with the free "Home" PC program) but more than adequate once the trip was started. Mounting was easy and the display was good as long as it was shielded from direct sunlight.
