Product Information
The sun shimmers on the horizon as your armed-to-the-teeth Navy fighter screams from the carrier deck, accelerating into the Danger Zone. High above hostile waters, your mission is to defend the task force from enemy attack. Suddenly, bogeys flash onto your radar. They're everywhere, diving towards you at Mach 2. Only a second to react, you go to guns and arm missiles. Your heart pounds and palms sweat as you blast into the dogfight with cannons blazing. Tracers zip past your engines. Shells shatter your senses. Now it's just you against them. And to survive you'll need more than speed and firepower. You'll need guts and instinct. You'll need to be a Top Gun pilot.

Top Gun for the NES

Created: 08/07/06
I like the high flying in the skies shootin' down "the enemy". The chalenge of landing on the aircraft carrier. Speking of which its a good thing that they have on screen directions. That helps give you more of a flying experience on top of the missions themselves. Since I will never be an Airforce pilot and chances are niether will you unless you study and work real hard at it for years, you might as well get this game to get a feel for "the experience". It is a game that I loved as a young kid and still love to this day!

Considering it's technical limitations, Top Gun is an entertaining and effective flight simulator that is sure to challenge any gamer. You must zoom through the skies, keeping an eye on speed and altitude to hunt down and take out enemy fighters. But watch your gas gauge and stay level as you attempt the famously difficult carrier landing at the end of level 1! Happy flying!

Top Gun for the NES is a great game for the system and a great addition to a collection. You are a fighter pilot during a war similar to the 1st Gulf War. You are assigned different missions with different targets to destroy around the middle east. You can select which type of missile you want to use, and the graphics are excellent. The control is pretty fluent for an NES game, and it can be very easily found for very little money. This game is especially more fun if you have a NES joystick or advantage controller. It's gameplay is surprisingly addicting, and its infamously difficult landing sequence will challenge you at the end of every level!

TOP GUN still a classic

All right Top Gun a classic movie. Did the NES do it justice? pretty much considering the ability of the 8bit platform. Couple of things that get me in this game. Is it really that hard to land a jet? I mean usually if the pilot messes up he either touches or does a fly around for another shot. This game you get one shot and if you miss you die. That sucks. Also I thought it was the fueling pilot's job to hit the mark not the ace. I mean all he has to do is keep it at a steady speed and the fueling plane does the rest. In top gun you have a moron working the fuel pump and you have to make all the adjustments to refuel successfully. If you fail you might as well reset or give up cause your dead. Other than that, being able to choose your missles and locking on to planes is cool. I give this a good overall rating
