The Transformers - The Complete First Season (DVD, 2009, 3-Disc Set)

Retailing at $19.99 these box sets blow the Rhino releases of these out of the water.Don`t waste your money on partial sets listed as rare .Those are just garbage peddled by huge used dvd sales companies . If you buy the Rhino releases you end up buy 4 or 5 sets to make up a season . Here with the Shout/Hasbro release you get one whole season in a box set for 1/5 of the price.These are also Superior prints with the missing animation added back into the episodes and interviews with key people who made the series.There`s also rare toy commercials and other goodies in each package .So this 25th anniversary releases are the ones to get until they eventually come out on blu-ray. Don`'t waste your money on other partial sets that are listed as rare .

I bought this dvd set about a month ago because I thought that even if it is animated, the action and adventure would be just as attractive as the live action films. I was right to some extent. I find the animated series more entertaining I guess because it has more characters and more episodes to view. As most people already may know, the show has intelligent robots from another world and earth humans team up against an enemy. I like that because I think humans teaming up with another intelligent creature makes a movie or tv show pretty cool. It's also better than always having evil creatures threatening humans and no good ones to help in the movies. I have no complaints about this item and I recommend it for any Transformer fan of any age.

THE REMASTERING IS GREAT! BUT NOT PERFECT. AS THE TITLE SAYS THE EPISODES ON THIS DVD HAVE REMAINED HONEST, FOR THE MOST PART, TO THE BROADCAST VERSIONS.

SOME OF THE ERRORS, OBVIOUS/OTHERWISE, MADE BY 'RHINO,' STILL REMAIN, SUCH AS THE CARGO HOLD OF MEGATRONS SHIP IN 'ULTIMATE DOOM PART 3.' HERE IN THE UNEDITED ORIGINALS THE WALLS CAN CLEARLY BE SEEN SURROUNDING THE ENERGON CUBES. THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY STILL SHOWS THE ERROR OF NO WALLS AROUND THE CARGO AS THE SHIP AND ITS CARGO IS ABOUT TO BLOW. SOME ERRORS/MISTAKES STILL REMAIN IN THE PREVIOUSLY BUTCHERED EPISODE OF 'HEAVY METAL WAR,' SUCH AS NO SMOKE RISNG FROM SCRAPPERS SHOULDER AS HE TAKES A HIT FROM 1 OF THE DINOBOTS.

MISTAKES OBVIOUS OR OTHERWISE STILL REMAIN BUT ARE SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE RHINO RELEASES.

OVER THE MANY YEARS LAME ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE AND SOLD, LIKE THE GENERATION 2 DVDs, THESE DVDs WERE TOUCHED UP WITH SOME CGI ANIMATION. THE ANIMATION IN THE GENERATION 2 DVDS WERE SUPERFLUOUS AND CAUSED TOO MUCH DISTRACTION DURING VIEWING. SUCH A THING WOULD BE A CUBE THAT WOULD TRANSFORM AT EVERY SCENE CHANGE. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WAY TOO OFTEN AND AT TIMES, ANNOYING. AN EXCUSE TO CASH IN ON PEOPLES INTEREST OF A GREAT SERIES.

"RHINO," DID A GOOD JOB WITH THE SERIES. THEY REMASTERED THE SOUND AND GAVE US 5.1 DD. THE ACTUAL PICTURE QUALITY WAS GREAT! COMPARED TO THE FADING ARCHIVE AND BROADCAST FOOTAGE. HOWEVER THEY BUTCHERED MANY EPSIODES, SUCH AS SOS DINOBOTS. HERE THEY OMITTED THE THE LASER/FLAMES THAT CAME FROM THE DINOBOTS FACIAL OROFICES, WHEN ORDERED TO "CLEAN UP THIS RUBBLE!" WHEN THEY FIRED UPON THE RUBBLE IT WAS STILL THERE? SUCH BLUNDERS WERE MADE WITH MANY OF THE SEASON 1 EPISODES, NONE MORE SO THAN "HEAVY METAL WAR."

THE 25TH ANNIVESARY EPISODES REMAIN HONEST TO THE ORIGINALS. THIS DVD SET IS REMASTERED TO THE ORIGINAL STEREO 2.0, NOT 5.1 DD AS IS WITH THE "RHINO," VERSIONS.

THE DVD IS PACKED WITH GOODIES LIKE A LARGE FRIDGE MAGNET OF THE AUTOBOT INSIGNIA. THE BOX IS DESIGNED WITH AN EMBOSSED PICTURE OF MEGATRON & PRIME/HEADING & WRITING.

I MUST SAY WHEN YOU LOAD THE DVD, IT AUTOMATICALLY PLAYS SOME TRAILERS. ONE OF THE TRAILER SHOWS A WOMAN IN THE BATHROOM IN HER UNDERWEAR, NOTHING IS SHOWN BEYOND THAT. BUT A PUPPET CHARACTER SAYS "GREAT! SOME POSSIBLE NUDITY." I FIND THIS INAPROPRIOTE IN WHAT IS A CHILDRENS SERIES/A DVD SET FOR THE FAMILY.

I am a transformers collector, and I have all the epesodes on vhs and believe it or not BETA, yea I said Beta, and now to have the whole series on dvd is awsome next step is blue ray. It's much easier to watch my favorite episodes on dvd. Recomend it to everybody!

Totally awesome transaction and product. Brought back memories from my teens and my child had seen the live action movies but not the original series. He loves it!!!
