    Movie synopsis

When inexperienced call girl Alabama Whitman (Patricia Arquette) is paid to seduce comic-book-nerd and Elvis fanatic Clarence Worley (Christian Slater), she doesn't expect to fall for him. But these two lost souls seem to be made for each other and quickly pledge their love, marrying at Detroit's city hall. Clarence discovers some newfound bravado and attempts to retrieve Alabama's possessions from her pimp, Drexl (Gary Oldman), who isn't exactly eager to let Alabama go. Fleeing Drexl's apartment, Clarence not only leaves a trail of bodies, but also inadvertently mistakes a suitcase of uncut cocaine for one with his wife's clothing, and the chase is on. The unlikely newlyweds head for Los Angeles hoping to sell the cocaine and make enough money to leave the country. Unfortunately, they also have to contend with the mob, yuppie drug dealers and the police. Michael Rapaport is amusing as Clarence's best friend who lives with Floyd, a stoner played by Brad Pitt. A sedate Dennis Hopper appears as Clarence's father, who ultimately faces off with mob boss Vincenzo Coccotti (Christopher Walken). Director Tony Scott (CRIMSON TIDE, ENEMY OF THE STATE) does justice to the violence and quirkiness of Quentin Tarantino's second feature film script.

Best DVD Edition of a 90's Classic.

    Created: 06/06/10
A great film filled with famous and soon-to-be famous actors, Tarantino dialogue and plot twists, Tony Scott style and action, and many memorable performances and characters. And arguably the best confrontation between two great actors ever in a motion picture--the Walken-Hopper scene. A truly funny, violent romantic crime caper.

This DVD unrated edition comes with two discs worth of material. Three commentaries including the only full Quentin Tarantino (writer) commentary track he's even done. Loads of deleted scenes w/Tarantino's original and rather bleak ending, documentaries and other stuff.

The best DVD release this must-see film ever got.

    True Romance (2002 - DVD)

    Created: 27/05/07
I wrote this once the other day, but it's not registering for some reason.....hmmm? Anyway, another fine twisted, quirky action thriller written in the comedic fashion that Quentin Tarantino is famous for; Tony Scott directs this lovely bit of "romantic pulp fiction." Great story line that is unpredictable and carried solely by the ensemble of high end actors: Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken etc deliver like never before. Catch a young Brad Pitt as the prolific couch potato stoner......in a somewhat cameo roll just hittin the bong over and over while eking out syllables to mafia hit men. < He's much to silly to off in this one and ya just gotta pee your pants watching, so I won't tell you no more. This movie is a must for folks like me who enjoy a Quentin's stuff.......I'm surprised he's not poppin up in a cameo somewhere when the bullets are flyin! Great flick!

A Great Modern Day Romance, with violence on the side

    Created: 15/07/08
One of the greatest ensemble casts, one of the most dialogue friendly scripts and all around one of the greatest movies of our time. Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette at their best! Christopher Walken and Dennis Hopper steal the movie and even a Brad Pitt cameo. You cannot go wrong with this movie! This is not a cutie-wootie tween love story. This is a story about love conquering the raw, violent, and demanding sides of life. And it all gets summed up in 3 little words... "You're So Cool". Classic!

    Great movie from the 90's

    Created: 01/04/08
This is one of my alltime favorite movies. I wanted to buy the special edition version of this movie for the DVD extras and I was not dissapointed. This movie is packed full with stars. What a treat to see Brad Pitt in his role of a drugged up airhead even though it is a small part. Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette have great chemistry on screen. Quentin Tarantino fans will love this movie. Definitely a four star movie. A great asset to any DVD collection.

    An unforgettable "Romance"

    Created: 25/07/09
I bought this movie for several reasons:
For one, it showcases the early writing talents of Quentin Tarentino and his ability to take an average story and make something extraordinary. For another, it stands as one of director Tony Scott's best films from the 90s- with gut-flipping gore, quirky characters and a showcase of some of the 90s best actors. I have no trouble in recommending this movie to friends.
