Movies with Mom ...
Created: 03/07/09
My mom and I live next door to one another and try to watch a movie once a week together. She suggested Tuesdays With Morrie. I am so glad she did.
This movie has a great deal to say, not just to the characters involved, but to all of us who think we are too busy to call a friend, write someone a note, stop and see a relative who might not be doing too well ~ you know, just taking the time to let someone know that we care. After all, what is really more important than sharing a minute (or two) of our time with someone who gave a lot more of theirs with us!
Tuesdays With Morrie has a small but excellent cast of characters. Jack Lemmon is at height of his excellent and long career, as Morrie. Hank Azaria, as Mitch, an old student of Morrie's, is terrific. If someone can walk away from this film unaffected, I would suggest they make an appointment immediately to see a psychiatrist. ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease) is only a part of the story ~ and in my view, not even the main part. The real story is about sharing ourselves with each other. Taking the time as often as possible to tell the people in our lives that they matter. We never know how much time we are going to have with anyone. When we become elderly that can be the loneliest time of our lives but it can also be the time we have the most to share.
I looked at my mother throughout this movie and I could tell that she was relating to Morrie in so many ways with her own life. I thought, what have I given her? It doesn't seem enough. Morrie told me the answer to my question ~ just give her me!

Every time I watch this movie I make a plonge in what is essential in life. Morrie (Jack Lemmon) a philosophie teacher find out he is gonna die but before leaving he wants to leave is essential teachin to Mitch Albom (Hank Azaria) whom has been his student years ago and now is so busy he has no time.... like a lot of us tease (crasy) days. This movie is so rich so intense in what is really important. Love, friendship, death, engagement and a lot more.... I watch it every time I find myself running after ... notting...

We often don't want to feel obligated to deal with the problems of others when they are ill or as they are aging or dying. But, many times the greatest gift we can give to ourselves is to give of ourselves. This story respectfully shows one man's journey toward a more selfless life...a lesson we could all take to heart more fully!

I teach high school students in health occupations. This movie is a true story and helps them understand the process of dying as well as implanting in their minds what is important in life. Must see for all ages over 16.

best acting, and a incredible story line combine to make a seriously moving and very memorable movie. Having seen this movie when it came out I was compelled to buy it for my collection. If you haven't seen it, you really should. It tells a great "life's" story....
