Movie trailer and editorial reviews

"Butler gives Mike an affable, lived-in quality that quickly takes the edge of the character's deliberate abrasiveness..."
Variety - Todd McCarthy (07/18/2009)

"Both Heigl and Butler find the appeal in very flawed characters. It has been said that every memorable romantic movie requires a scene where the lovers dance together, and Luketic has staged an effervescent dance for the stars."
Hollywood Reporter - Stephen Farber (07/23/2009)

3 stars out of 5 -- "[Butler] has charisma in spades....Butler and Heigl sizzle nicely together in a script that steers away from cutesy in favour of potty-mouthed put-downs..."
Total Film - Jane Crowther (07/23/2009)

Another Heigl Romantic Comedy

Created: 11/11/09
Katherine Heigl (Knocked up and 27 Dresses) is quickly becoming the queen of the modern day romantic comedy.

in this film she teams up with Gerard Butler (300 and P.S. I love you). Heigl is the producer of a morning news program in Sacramento and Butler is the host of "the Ugly Truth" a brash talk show that looks at the state of relationships. Due to falling ratings the AM News Program hires Butler to do his Ugly Truth show on there morning program with Heigl as the producer.

One thing leads to another and you have another romantic comedy that is at times funny, corny and with a lot of bickering between the two.

Perhaps not the most original movie but it does have its moments and it is entertaining.

Anyone who enjoys a good romantic comedy will enjoy this dvd and especially those who are fans of Heigl.

Go ahead and get this one, it is worth the price.

Same actress, different story.

Created: 16/11/09
Being an avid follower of The Queen of all Media, I had developed a love-hate thing for actress Katherine Heigl, but I can't help but watch her romantic comedies. It's always the same people in a different story and yet they manage to hold my attention.

I would have liked more interaction with Mike's (Gerard Butler) family and a better explanation for why/how he became such an expert on the male perspective of dating. He and Abbey (Heigl) did have nice chemisty and their banter was laughable.

Overall OK, but I really don't think I'd buy this one--thankfully I only paid a dollar @ The Red Box because I think I would have felt jipped. To me, it was a one-time view.

Definitely NOT for children!!

Love Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl was great in 27 Dresses. Very funny and entertaining. The pair have great chemistry. A real feel good romantic comedy. Loved every part of it.

The Ugly Truth (DVD)

I bought this DVD for one reason and one reason alone: Gerry Butler. His appearance in a film makes it worth the DVD's MSRP. As for his vapid, charmless co-star here (whose name happily escapes me), I can either take or leave her alone -- preferably the latter. Same will likely be true (sooner than later) for the rest of the American DVD-buying public as well. Oh, yes: Katherine Heigel, is it? Well, no matter. The film, for me, is about seeing Gerry. Is "The Ugly Truth" his best film to date? No, but does this concern me greatly? Also no. Mr. Butler remains a completely charming, funny, occasionally dark, but always deeply interesting actor. For better examples of this, catch his stellar performances in "Phantom Of The Opera," "Dear Frankie," "One More Kiss," and "P.S.: I Love You." He's truly marvelous. Commercial over; thank you.

COMEDY FOR ALL FREE SPIRITED PEOPLE.

KATHERINE HEIGL AND GERALD BUTLER MADE A GREAT TEAM. YOU COULD SEE THE CHEMISTRY FROM THE FIRST SCENE THAT THEY WERE IN TOGETHER. FUNNY AND WELL PUT TOGETHER. THE WRITERS, I THINK, DID A GOOD JOB MAKING THE MOVIE BELIEVABLE. LOVE IT, GOOD MOVIE.
