I really like this movie and Siege 2. Both are very exciting and keep you on the edge of your chair from start to finish. I have to admit I am a Steven Seagal fan.
He makes great movies even if he is undergoing what I call the Hollywood crazies.
I have most of his movies and he hasn't made a bad one yet that I have seen. Okay some "B"s but even those were great.

This is the story of a group of discontents. Who are lead by an ex CIA hit man. The CIA tried to kill this person (Tommy Lee Jones)who in turn plots to take over a navy ship and threaten the world with atomic weapons. Unfortunately for them good old Rybeck the head cook turns out to be an exseal (Steven Seagal)

The best thing (TWO things) about this movie . . .

"Under Siege" is one of the most tolerable Steven Seagal movies, which is saying a lot. He's his usual mumble-mouth, hard-staring self, which is fine. The supporting cast of bad guys is superb, with a great (but underused) Colm Meaney, Gary Busey improving on his "Mr. Joshua" character from "Lethal Weapon", and Tommy Lee Jones uncharacteristically chewing on the scenery in a WAY over-the-top performance (I have no doubt he had a complete blast doing this movie). But there's really only one reason to see this movie, and that's to see Erika Eleniak's breath-takingly perfect breasts as she pops out of thet party cake. They say the camera adds ten pounds - well, in this case, I think it added twenty, all of it on her chest. I remember seeing this movie in a theater when it came out, and when that scene occured, every guy in the place sat straight up and stock-still, watching with reverential silence. At the time, I would have been very happy to have paid full admission price just to see those fifteen seconds of celluloid containing her performance. She should have won the "Best Cinema Boobs in a Mainstream Movie" Oscar that year, even if the rest of her performance kinda sucked.

Under Siege

This action movie is larger than life, with Steven Seagal, Tommy Lee Jones and Gary Busey! The drama begins aboard the USS Missouri where Seagal is 'Just a cook' (he has never been JUST a cook). This film features one of the best performances ever by Tommy Lee Jones, and a truly outrageous character played by Gary Busey....both completely UNFORGETTABLE! True to form, Seagal proves to be the hero, leading a dumbfounded blonde stripper to fruition. You don't want to miss this film, it certainly belongs in your video collection!

This is an relatively enjoyable movie with Steven Seagal as an ex-Navy Seal making his way back to the U.S. mainland as a cook on the Battleship Missouri. Having just left Honolulu where they participated in a Presidential Salute to their ship, the "Mighty Moe" is on her way to San Francisco for eventual mothballing. Under the ruse of a party for the Captain, a helicopter is allowed to land on the fantail. Instead of a band with a catered meal, there is a group of mercenaries intent on stealing the nuclear "Tomahawk" missiles to sell to foreign terrorists. Steven Seagal, finds a beautiful stripper who was supposed to jump out of a cake, and she teams up with him. He single-handedly goes after the mercenaries and manages to kill them one by one until he ultimately comes up against their leader, played by Tommy Lee Jones. This was a pretty good movie with a lot of action, but still a bit "hammy" with Seagal performing in a role that was half Superman and half James Bond, with the big-chested stripper along for good looks. I think that this movie will be a smash with 15-25 year old viewers.

My opinion of Under Seige-Region 1 version.

Created: 19/02/08
Well to whoever reads this review, the first thing to say now that I've watched it is that the U.K region 2 version to this is slightly cut.I'm not refering to deleted scenes or scenes which never actually make it into even the deleted scenes from the full lenth of the film. The plot is good & I've obviously always liked this type of plot, same as the second one but thats on a train. The region 1 version shows uncut footage.I'm refering to that gore/strong violence part where with Jordan,a casualty of the situation,he tries to sneak through a small manufacturing area that the bad guys are using & he gets spotted. They attack him & try to kill him. This part of the film is cut on the region 2 version. But not on region 1.I know its not that much, but its still there. You can tell because Ryback pushes the last bad guy onto the metal cutting saw directly behind him & you'll see the blade tear into his right shoulder. The only other part is shortly after jordan is almost shot & shes yanked back into cover.Ryback martial arts style fights a bad guy.He kills him by ripping or tearing his throat/windpipe out. This few second part of the film is also not there/cut on region 2.Overall,a well plotted, well acted out action film.Knowing about the uncut version on region 1 was the main reason why I decided to buy it.
