Underworld: Evolution (Blu-ray Disc, 2006)

Len Wiseman, Kate Beckinsale|Theatrical release: 2006 | Rating: R (MPAA)

Movie synopsis

Bloodthirsty vengeance is measured out in buckets, not spoonfuls for this hard-hitting vampire movie sequel. The story picks up right where the first UNDERWORLD left off, in the midst of a war between Lycans (werewolves) and vampires, with the gorgeous death-dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale), on the run with her vamp-wolf hybrid lover, Michael (Scott Speedman). This go-'round, there are flashbacks to three centuries earlier and the separation of two ultra-bad brothers, one vampire and one Lycan. The Lycan gets locked in a hidden tomb/prison and the feud begins. In the present, the winged vamp brother Marcus (Tony Curran) is determined to find his Lycan sibling and free him, which would wreak unimaginable havoc on the world. Selene's got to stop it, and the result is mayhem, with great gun battles, bashings and hackings, mysterious artifacts, orgies, and sneaking around in the dripping wet crypts and catacombs. Beckinsale looks great with her jet-black hair, skintight leather bodysuit, red lips, and glowing blue eyes. Director Len Wiseman obviously has a great love for this alternate universe; he keeps the action humming, the blood running, and the cast well-stocked with seasoned British actors like Sir Derek Jacobi, Bill Nighy, and Steven Mackintosh. The sex and violence may still be a bit intense for youngsters, but for the vampire crowd, it's a moveable feast of generous, still-twitching proportions., IN THEATERS JANUARY 20, 2006The Death Dealers (vampires) and the Lycans (werewolves) go head to head--and heart to heart--in this dark and luscious sequel to UNDERWORLD, directed by Len Wiseman.

Vampires Werewolves and True Love

Created: 02/08/07
Underworld is a great movie from numerous perspectives. It has a good plot even though its rehashing monsters seen in previous films. Underworld creates its own history for these creatures and its own turmoil betweent them. Fortunately in Under world a much better job is done of pitting monster against monster than in films like Alien Vs Predator where there's no dialog or character development. In Underworld you get to know the characters and over the course of the film the truth behind why the war rages on is revealed and the darkest of secrets are uncovered. This is also a great romance or date movie as far as I'm concerned. The two main characters Selene and Michael played respectively by Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman are tragic lovers driven apart by a secret war that has been raging for centuries. Though their love is forbidden fruit they quickly discover that they are each other's last hope in a crazy world of violence and death. No matter how dark it becomes love triumphs in the end.

Blue ray makes a differance

Created: 02/02/08
I already owned this movie on regular DVD but to see it on Blue Ray was well worth the cost of owning 2 copies of the same movie. You get to see better details in high definition like Kate's fine hairs on her body ect. The movie in general is IMOP a fantastic film its not for everyone but if you like fantasy and sci fi its perfect. I just wish they were going to make a third movie in this series, love the action story line and characters. I am not a movie critic obviously because I give this 5 stars, I watch movies for pure fun not for payment and a bloated ego lol.. Get this one you will love it.

What can I say but everything positive in this movie. The story line is good and the special effects are even better! The premise of this movie makes you captivated to see the what the next scene is going to bring! Ah, of course is the lovely vampiress, Kate Beckinsale! What else can I say about how well she looks all in black. She is very striking to look at and keeps me looking at her. Very pretty face and great body! Recommended to all the vampire and Kate Beckinsale fans out there.

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. The action through out the movie is great as is the acting. A story about a war between vampires and lycons. The weapons each side uses is great to see (not your average silver bullets and wooden stake). The music score goes perfectly with the action going on in the movie. If you like vampire movies this one is a must see!
