USED CARS (DVD,2002)

LIKE NEW,GREAT LOOKING AND FULLY LOADED WITH LAUGHS. A HILARIOUS COMIC SALUTE TO THOSE SUPERSALESMEN WHOSE PERSUASIVE PITCHES TRANSFORM RATTLING WRECKS INTO "PRE-OWNED" DREAM CARS. JACK WARDEN IS BRILLIANT IN A DOUBLE ROLE AS TWO FEUDING BROTHERS LUKE AND ROY L. FUCHS, WHO OWN COMPETING CAR LOTS AND ARE TRYING TO DRIVE EACH OTHER OUT OF BUSINESS. RUDY RUSSO (RUSSELL) IS LUKE'S ACE SALEMAN, A CHARMING AND CONNIVING CHEAT AND LIAR WHO IS MERELY IN TRAINING FOR HIS TRUE AMBITION- POLITICS. IN ONE OF RUDY'S MOST OUTRAGEOUS ADVERTISING PLAYS, HE HIRES A MODEL TO STRIP ON TELEVISION, AND THEY ALL WIND UP IN A CRAZY AUTOMOBILE STAMPEDE INVOLVING 200 VINTAGE CARS IN A HIGH-SPEED CHASE THAT BECOMES A FREE-FOR-ALL DEMOLITION DERBY.

Used Cars

Kurt Russell plays a fast talking and moral lacking used car salesman with a eye of becoming the state's next Senator. Frank McRae, Gerrit Graham, and Jack Warden (in a dual role), round out this comedic look at the similarities between sales and politics. Micheal McKeon and David Lander (Lenny and Squiggy) help with the technical aspect of Rudy Russo's "campaign"! A smaller role played by Al Lewis (Grandpa Munster) adds to the fun! Directed by Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and Back To The Future), this is a must own!

used cars; classic stuff.

A brilliant takeoff on the seedy side of the used car business. Great
one liners, an outstanding cast make this one of comedie's finest moments.
Kurt Russell is an aspiring politician working at a used car lot for owner Jack Warden, who also plays his greedy brother and fellow lot owner from across the street. When the kindly Warden character dies, the hilarity really kicks in as Russell gears up for political office all the while keeping
the evil Warden from taking over his brother's lot. Look for Michael Mckean and David Ladner, Lenny and Squiggy from tv's Laverne and Shirley, as two
technical geeks. Also Grandpa Munster, Al Lewis, is memorable as a hanging judge.
A well spent 113 minutes. If you enjoy laughing.

USED CARS good comedy
Created: 04/03/08
I first saw this on cable when I was 12...topless chicks were definitely in fashion in my pubescent mind. Aside from that, the comedy is in-your-face low brow with a good-natured sense of cynicism. The seventies cars are wonderfully hideous to look at in retrospect. New Deal Used Car's cheap tactics stand well against the rival car dealer, owned by Jack Warden, who turns in a fantastic performance as a greedy and corrupt car dealer and in a dual role, his own (recently) deceased brother. There are a few plotholes and the film loses steam a bit, but overall a solid comedy. The Blues Brothers and Caddyshack pushed this film down to the third best comedy of 1980. And remember, $50 never killed anybody!

Outrageous and politically incorrect...

This is a film that I saw when it was first released, and I love the DVD. This has one of the funniest commentary tracks I've ever heard. Along with The Hollywood Knights, this is one of the funniest films I've ever seen. With Kurt Russell, Jack Warden and countless others, this film pokes fun at the used car industry. It's not as well known as Fast Times At Ridgemont High or Animal House, but it does hold it's own with the comedies that are being produced currently by the film industry.
