USRobotics (USR5635) Modem

I set this up about a month ago and it's worked great ever since. I needed to get a USB modem because newer computers don't have the zillion expansion slots they used to have, and I needed the only available slot for a TV card.

Setup was very easy. You just make the physical connections, load the easy-to-install software, and you're set. I had to run again through all of my dial-up settings based on my ISP's instructions to get optimal performance. (Use the Connections tab on Tools -> Internet Options in Internet Explorer to save some time hunting around for settings controls.)

I get strong, reliable connections that are as fast as they have ever been with this ISP. And it is not an obsolete item. The USR website provides plenty of support for it.

I have no complaints about this modem and would recommend it to anyone.

US Robotics doesn't just enter the market of external modems, they *define* the market. Their products are the gold standards. This particular purchase was for a computer that needed a dial-up connection in a part of Ukraine that is NOT known for excellent phone line quality--and yes, the modem works beautifully!

I bought this modem because US Robotics is a trusted name. And the price was more than right. It worked right out of the box installed the drivers and I had internet. consistent 49.9 connection every time.

Love it! Easy to setup & much faster. I've had numerous pci modems and this usb modem is substantially faster. I have dial up and will never go back to the pci modems.

I bought a new laptop which came with wireless setup; but all I have is a dial-up connection ; so I needed a dial-up modem. The modem works fine;a little slow with Windows Vista.
