Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (2007, Paperback)

The book had a great story line. Very different from other vampire books because in this book there is 3 kinds of vampires, first are the Moroi Vampires, their the good vampires that are actually mortal and do not kill for blood. The Second kind are Dhampir, they are half Moroi and half human and their the guardians of the Moroi. The third ones are Strigoi, which are the evil vampires, you know the ones that kill for blood and can't go in the light and are immortal. This book is writen from the view point of Rose Hathaway, she is a Dhampir and she is going to be Princess Lissa Dragomir's gaurdian, her best friend. But first thay both have to graduate high school. So while having to balance everything thats come along with being in high school they also have to protect Lissa special powers, but they also share a bond that has only been heard of in stories. Rose can see and feel everything Lissa goes through. This whole book and the series keeps you on your toes and always wanting more. If you like the Twilight Series and The House of Night Series, you will love this new twist on vampire school, friends and love. I highly recomend this series to anyone like vampire stories and adventure.

i think my biggest pet peeve can't really be a pet peeve, because it is a book for teenagers so when i say it was too teenagery for me you will understand.

however i did buy frostbite, so we shall see.

I enjoy stories about vampires. I found the other books of this series at wal mart but could not find this one.

Vampire Academy was an excellent book that thrilled me. I felt like I was actually in rose's body seeing what she felt. This is one of the best books I have read in almost two years. Vampire Academy is much better then any other vampire book I read so far. Dealing with actual teen problems and real life challenges can help me relate to it.

I found nothing to dislike about the first book in the series. All I can say is that Richelle Mead is in a class all by herself. She is an exceptional writer with an imagination to die for. If you like magic and vampyres with all the perils that go with the secret world, then this is the book for you. I couldn't put it down, and I await on pins and needles for the 2nd book in the series.
