The Venture Bros. - Season 2 (DVD, 2007, 2-Disc Set)

Theatrical release: 2004 | Rating: Not Rated

Movie synopsis

A popular addition to the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim roster, THE VENTURE BROS. is a sharp and humorous lampoon of the classic JONNY QUEST cartoons. Hank and Dean are two dimwitted teens who--along with their father (brilliant scientist Dr. Venture) and their bodyguard, Brock Sampson--confront various miscreants and criminals in a series of adventures. Unfortunately, the boys are too clueless to solve many of the puzzling situations they find themselves in, and often barely escape with their lives. This release includes the entire second season of the show.

Fabulous show!

Created: 27/02/10
I was introduced to The Venture Brothers a few months ago, and I was hooked immediately. The writing is witty and dry, the pacing is fast and the stories are marvelously off-kilter. The characters, each of which is multifaceted and unique, are what make the whole thing work: there are Hank and Dean, the goofy twin brothers referred to in the title; Dr Theodore "Rusty" Venture, their pill-popping father; Brock Samson, their tightly wound bodyguard; The Monarch, their wanna-be archnemesis, and too many more to mention. The second season picks up right where the first left off, and it's a great ride from there. Excellent show-- not recommended for kids, though!

Typical Venture Style, Perhaps a bit below par

Venture Bros. Season One blew me totally out of the water. If that's the sort of humour you and your friends like, then it's the perfect television show to display to all your friends at once. However, Venture Bros. Season Two gives across the impression that it the director and the creator have tamed down with the famous antics of the characters in The Venture Bros, as well as put more focus on the character building and nostalgic references than on laugh-out-loud story plots. Don't get me wrong, for a collector and a fan, Venture Bros Season Two is a must have, it has some great jokes and fantastic characters, new and old. But if you, like me, want to see Hank and Dean's idiotic one-liners, Dr. Orpheus' over noised attitude and Brock Samson's three-digit kill count, then stick to obsessively watching Season One. But if you have the cash for both, don't give it a second thought. The improvements on Venture Bros. Season Two are a must-experience for all Venture Bros. fans.

Go Team Venture!

Are you a fan of the Hanna Barbera cartoons? Outrageous cartoon villains? Excitement,Danger...spy spoofs? Then Venture Brothers may be the show for you!
Some of the shows will remind you of Scooby Doo and Jonny Quest and it's done with tongue planted firmly in cheek. There is alot of low brow humor and sight gags aplenty that most people might miss the first time around. That's exactly why you should buy the DVD sets. The characters are well developed and brilliantly voiced by stars of the Adult Swim corral and always entertaining. The series is well written and brilliantly executed.
What more can I say? NOW GO BUY THE DVD's!
You won't be disappointed.

A modest Venture review.

The two-disc set was great, all the episodes from season two. If you liked the show, there's no reason not to get this! The only qualm I had was the menu screens, which for some reason seemed a little fuzzy to me, but they were still readable and distinguishable. Go Team Venture!!

Highly recommended

The Venture Brothers is the only Adult Swim show that I really love. The show contains so many references to my favorite things, spy movies, cartoons, pop music history and comic books. The drawing style and art direction is above average and I don't feel like I'm watching animated doodles. If you like Buffy, 30 Rock, Simpsons and The Onion, I think this show would be a great addition to your library.
