Album Notes
Peter, Paul and Mary: Noel Paul Stookey, Peter Yarrow (vocals, acoustic guitar); Mary Travers (vocals).Peter, Paul and Mary (Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers) did more to bring the 1960s folk revival safely into the homes of the American public than any other artists of the day. Their songs had a decided leftist political edge, but were gentle and easy enough to invade AM radio, where their natural, infectious singalong style gave the trio several dignified hits, including "Lemon Tree," "If I Had a Hammer," "Puff, the Magic Dragon," "Blowin' in the Wind," and two hits from the very end of the decade, "I Dig Rock and Roll Music" and "Leaving on a Jet Plane." All are collected here, along with fine versions of "500 Miles," and Gordon Lightfoot's beautiful "Early Mornin' Rain." Although they will forever be associated with the folk movement, Peter, Paul and Mary's material plays surprisingly well after all these years, and while their earnest sincerity can get annoying in large doses, this collection plays just about right. ~ Steve Leggett

Editorial Reviews
[I]t's fun to see the group really lay its politics on the line in 'El Salvador,' and 'Weave Me the Sunshine' is as vibrant as anything Peter, Paul, and Mary ever recorded.

Great collection -PPM- Very Best

Created: 07/08/06
Sometimes a rock group is pidgeon-holed into a few hits - "Puff the Magic Dragon" "500 Miles" or "I Dig Rock and Roll Music". What I like about this CD : (1) The choice of additional songs of their folk vein - "This Land is Your Land" "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" ; (2) Includes excellent examples of their "solo" work ; (3) Excellent cross section of songs and crisp sound from remastering.

Even if you own the "Ten Years Together" (Best Of), get this CD !
You won't regret it.

The Very Best Of Peter, Paul & Mary

It brings me back to the early 60's pre Beatles, True folk music, anti-war music truley ahead of it's time, great harmony they influneced, Bob Dylan, John Denver and countless others. Their music was heard during the civil rights movement and loved by the Beatniks that preceded the Hippie movement in the mid-to early 70's. Woodstock was not part of their scene... Thank you Lynn Hamburg for introducing me to Peter, Paul & Mary.......Manny Vider

Peter Paul and Mary-Very Best of

Created: 15/04/07
Having owned all the PPM albums (still do in fact, but the record player died years ago and I found it difficult to take on walks!), I was pleased to find this CD with a wonderful set of many of their hits plus a few bonus tracks that really please me (Follow Me by Mary and Wedding Song by Paul particularly). This and Album 1700 (my all-time favorite recording ever) and I'll be set for life!! I would buy this one over The Best of PPM anytime...more tracks. Recording sound is very good. Recommended to all PPM fans!

The Very Best of Peter Paul and Mary

Created: 10/06/06
This CD was a unique surprise to me. I've always enjoyed Peter Paul and Mary when I've heard them on the radio. I had been looking for a "Best of" CD from them. The CD that arrived was beautifully packaged and it contained songs that I was not expecting. For example, "For Baby (For Bobbie)" I had heard before and liked, but the song had limited air time. I had never heard them do Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A Changin'" either, they did it very well. There are times when I buy a CD just for one song, but this was not the case here. I thoroughly enjoyed the selections on this CD.

Rewind time and smile.

Created: 03/08/06
Take a little trip back to when life was slower, and easier. Go back to when music was able to be sung along with. When love, hope, and laughter were still part of life.
There are strings of hope, pearls of wisdom, and cables of smiles in this music. Puff the Magic Dragon. Who can't smile when they see the title?
This is an album to be cherished and that everyone who cares to listen to it will enjoy.
The Wedding Song. Exquisitely beautiful.
Buy this and enjoy the ride, smiles, and hope.
