Album Notes
Personnel: Justin Hayward (vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar, keyboards); Phil Palmer (vocals, guitar); Mickey Feat (vocals); Geoffrey Richardson (mandolin, viola, pipe); Jesse Levy (cello); Steve Skinner (piano); Paul Bliss (keyboards); Elio Rivagli (drums, percussion); Tessa Niles, Billy Nichols (background vocals).Audio Mixers: Gary Tole ; Stephen W. Tayler.Recording information: Mullinetti Studios, Recco, Italy.Unknown Contributor Role: Sonny Kompanek.Arranger: Steve Skinner. The View from the Hill mostly showcases some of Moody Blues vocalist/guitarist Justin Hayward in excessive form, though its best tracks may alone be worth the price of admission for serious fans. The album opens with the engaging "I Heard It," a catchy number whose electronic flourishes recall the Moodys' "Your Wildest Dreams." Up next is the album's clear highlight -- the ethereal, hypnotic "Broken Dream," which boasts a flamenco-spiced guitar and a prominently mixed vocal that ranks with Hayward's finest. From there, The View from the Hill is mostly filled with lyrics about "pockets full of dreams," "the dark of the mystic night," and "sadness in your eyes." ~ Jeff Burger

a view of the view from the hill

and the view is wonderful, beatiful, thought prevoking,a true delight.as a long time fan of all that is moody blues i thought i was ready for what was to come.but i was wrong!as a member of the moody blues justin and band mates always make me happy.i always enjoy everything they do,and as the years go by i find their music to have more meaning and bring more peace and joy.justins solo works have been inconsistent.usally this seems to be caused by other peoples involvement in his projects.meaning his true solo works are very good but his other works like night flight as an example tend to be a mixed bag.not so with view, this cd is in a class by itself.it can be compared to any of his works including all of the moodys works, and still come out on top.i can not stop listening to this cd.and like the moodys cds you do not skip around to select songs you listen from the first to the last in order and then do it all over again.a true work of art, this will always be on my personal list as one of the best cds of all time.thank you justin,so much!this is a gift that i will always be grateful for.please keep on making more music.this cd along with strange times have been awe inspireing.hi this probably looks like just another sentence in this review but actually it has been several weeks and i can not stop playing this cd.so after all of this time i found i had to add something to this review.this is one of the best cds i have heard, ever!this cd is totally justin but at the same time this is one of the best cds the moody blues never made.i cant wait to hear what justin and the moody blues are going to do next.

View from the hill - Justin Solo and excellent as usual

Created: 07/10/09
Having been a long time Moody Blues fan, it took a bit sometimes to get used
to some of the solo stuff. Yet Justin Hayward has at least two different releases that I think are really what I love most about the music that he plays
himself. Night flight was the first one I had, which I really like a lot, a good mix of rock and romance. View from the Hill likewise seems like a very
nice mix of music, and I find that Justin's music as he gets older takes on a
nice gentle, still romantic, still thoughtful tone.

View from the Hill another fine release from Justin.
